The University of Alabama Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is soliciting applications from qualified individuals for the position of Major Gifts Officer II - Director, Athletics Major Gifts. This position will identify, cultivate, and solicit donor prospects for the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. This position will work with individuals, corporations, and foundations in building relationships in support of Intercollegiate Athletics.
The Major Gifts Officer II generates charitable support for The University of Alabama in excess of $1 million annually. Identifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards prospects believed to be capable of making major gifts. Expected to meet defined visit and solicitation goals and work closely with Deans, faculty, volunteers and other stakeholders to achieve those goals. Typically solicits significant, major-level gifts including current gifts, pledges and planned gifts. Independently prioritizes tasks set in consultation with supervisors. Mentors and trains lower-level officers. May supervise development officers.

Required minimum qualifications are a bachelor's degree and five (5) years of experience, in development, fundraising, sales, public relations, or related field; or a master's degree and three (3) years of professional experience in development, fundraising, sales, public relations, or related field. Frequent travel required. Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 21 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report as determined by the insurance carrier.
Prefer knowledge in the areas of annual fund, major giving, and planned giving. Prefer experience in Intercollegiate Athletics, Higher Education or Not for Profit Organization. Prefer degree in Business Administration, Sports Administration, Marketing, Management, or related field.
Experience in management, athletic administration, and business administration or other relevant area is preferred.
Good public relations, communications, and interpersonal skills. Ability to use personal computer for word processing and to use other standard software packages.
