JOB OVERVIEW
The Director, Global Tax will be responsible for global tax provision, compliance (including sale/use, property tax, VAT, GST/HST, unclaimed property etc.), tax research, tax planning and strategies. Incumbent will provide guidance and assistance to subsidiaries on all tax related issues. Incumbent will also recommend ways to management to minimize tax risks and liabilities through use of tax laws and regulations.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Responsible for the review and timely filing of the consolidated federal and state income tax returns.
• Oversight quarterly and annual income tax provision calculation including deferred tax analysis, effective tax rate calculation, and related footnote disclosures as well as calculations and analysis required under FIN 48 and FAS 123R etc..
• Lead the analysis and implementation of tax minimization strategies and projects (e.g. research and development credit, inter-company charges, transfer pricing, unclaimed property management, sales and use tax planning etc.).
• Oversight various aspects of tax department operations such as estimates, extensions, tax returns, correspondence, subsidiary inquiries, balance sheet tax accounts, and complying with SOX and related requirements.
• Responsible for all domestic and international tax audits.
• Management of the analysis and tax due diligence of proposed acquisitions.
• Establish and communicate tax strategies with senior leaders. Stay abreast of company business issues and provide the appropriate tax information and opinions.
• Collaborate with business heads to provide tax guidance related to new business ventures, changes to business structures, and changes in foreign operations.
• Leading and developing of tax department (of approximately 5-6 professionals)
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)
• Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written including ability to effectively present information to executive management, public groups, and/or the Board of Directors.
• Able to read, analyze, and interpret technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
• Able to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
• Able to apply advanced mathematical concepts, and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
• Able to quickly grasp, define, and analyze problems, and develop and facilitate logical and innovative solutions.
• Experience with computerized tax research software, tax compliance software (OneSource preferred), and standard Office programs (Excel, Word, Outlook).
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, or similar. Master’s degree in taxation highly desired.
• Minimum 10 years professional taxation experience. Ideal experience would blend experience in a “Big 4” firm with at least 2 years experience in the tax department of a multi-national publicly held company.
• CPA required.
