LOCATION: Tokyo
REPORTS TO: Managing Director, SEA
The responsibilities of the Group Account Director (GAD), Hospitalityinclude the planning and management of all aspects of corporate hospitality programs and events for the upcoming major events in Japan (Rugby World cup and Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games).
Duties will evolve based on the timeframe of a project, from sales support to strategic “architecture” planning through all phases of project management, through to on-site operations and post-project reconciliation. The Group Account Director (GAD), Hospitality will serve as Octagon’s chief subject matter expert for all host country considerations relative to hospitality operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Client (External/Internal Relations)
• Direct oversight of hospitality operations for defined clients
• Identification of and negotiation with third-party service providers, DMC and ongoing supplier relationship management.
• Establish productive working relationships with key property stakeholders including RWC LOC and TOCOG
• Regular interface with clients at appropriate level and attendance at relevant meetings
• Deliver complex client relation activities, including presentations
• Daily client contact at multiple levels
Project Management
• Lead local Octagon Hospitality team and work in collaboration with the global Octagon team in development, approval, management and activation of all host country Hospitality activities
• Local day to day contact with rightsholder counterpart at equal level.
• Identify & manage vendors, partners to ensure proper coordination of program logistics
Staff Management and Leadership
• Training and leadership of direct reports and other staff relevant to client projects.
• Demonstrated leadership in assigning / following tasks and deadlines
• Previous experience managing staff on project to project basis
Budget Management
• Develops complex hospitality budgets
Knowledge/Expertise
• Extensive number of connections within industry, vendors etc
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
• Min. 10 years’ experience in the hospitality / event management industry managing top tier/global hospitality programs.
• Expert-level understanding of strategic event marketing, activation, policies, practices and principles.
• Able and comfortable to operate within a dynamic, global working environment across different time zones as well client’s office
• Excellent supplier, partner and rightsholder network within relevant organisations
• Well Developed Skills:
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively and diplomatically with a wide range of personality types
• Creative flair with an ability to entertain and create branded experiences
• Well-versed with Computer Software (MS Office)
• Excellent communication skills (English & Japanese at Business Level)
