Provides responsible administrative support to the Director of Athletics and handles the varied responsibilities in the assigned area of operations and promotions, or fund raising. Responsibilities encompass varied administrative duties involving the use and maintenance of athletic facilities, program development, management of events, public relations, fund raising, insurance, inventory control and coordination of travel. Work is performed under administrative direction with evaluation of performance based upon the overall operation of the area assigned. Supervises various professional, technical and clerical employees.
• Establishes department-wide messaging styles and standards guide, strategic communication plans, comprehensive brand campaigns, editorial calendar, and media communication matters.
• Provides communications support including questions and answers and interview preparation for the Director of Athletics and all administrators and coaches as needed.
• Provides oversight of the Marketing and Fan Engagement Office including the Assistant Athletics Director for Marketing and the Social Media Director.
• Provides oversight of the Athletics Communications office, including the media relations staff; oversees all aspects of external communications with the media, including campaigns, press releases, publications, credentialing and strategic planning.
• Works closely with the Senior Associate Athletics Director for External Operations on crisis communications and works to execute crisis communication plans.
• Cultivates and maintains relationship with local, regional and national members of the media.
• Identifies, designs and coordinates marketing efforts related to public relations, ticketing, marketing and sponsorships and other department areas.
• Assists in supervising the operation of all home regular season and postseason intercollegiate athletic events.
• Comply with all NCAA, Big 12 and Texas Tech University rules, regulations and policies.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. 5 years progressively responsible leadership experience in intercollegiate athletics administration. Must have thorough knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in marketing, or journalism, preferred.
