Stanford’s Department of Athletics, Physical Education and Recreation (“DAPER”) supports the nearly 900 student-athletes who compete on the 36 intercollegiate athletic teams sponsored by the university. It also supports the campus physical education, recreation and wellness initiatives. Stanford’s intercollegiate athletics department is seen as the premier athletic program in the country, achieving the highest levels of success both in the classroom and on the field. We are currently seeking a Director, Athletic Training. This position is responsible for the coordination of all medical services provided to student-athletes, as well as the supervision of Certified Athletic Trainers as part of the sports medical care services in partnership with team physicians, physical therapists and coaches.
Job Duties:
•Provide overall program vision and strategic direction for long term program needs
•Coordinate and supervise all personnel activities including daily operation of the athletic training facilities, scheduling coverage and managing logistics for practices and events, and ensuring daily reporting of injuries and illness is accurate and timely
•Serve as the main liaison for communication between athletic training staff and team physicians, physical therapists, medical office staff, coaches and DAPER administrators. Participate regularly in rounds with team physicians to ensure appropriate referral and follow-up with athletic trainers
•Hire and train athletic trainers on Stanford policies and procedures. Ensure that staff maintain current certifications and receive continuing education. Ensure that care provided by staff is under the direction of a team physician and that documentation and communication follow procedures
•Prepare and administer the annual operating budget for the athletic training function.
•Oversee the purchase and procurement of all medical supplies, equipment and technologies
•Provide and manage a graduate assistant certified athletic trainer program fellowship, Stanford undergraduate sports medicine internship, and international clinical training program in partnership with other universities or other NATA accredited educational programs
•Serve as first responder in emergency situations

Qualifications:
• Master's degree in athletic training or related field
• Five years of experience managing a Division I or equivalent athletic training program, strongly preferred
• Experience in positions of leadership at the college or university level
• Experience working in a multidisciplinary medical environment
• Excellent communication, administrative, time management and interpersonal skills
• Strong knowledge of MicroSoft Office, specifically, Word and Excel
• Expertise in electronic medical record keeping
• Strong knowledge of HIPAA requirements
• Certification by the National Athletic Trainers' Association Board of Certification (BOC)
• Red Cross First Aid, CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation)
• AED (automated external defibrillator) certification
• HIPAA training
