Position Summary
The Director of Marketing and Fan Experience is responsible to coordinate and execute marketing plans and initiatives for all sports to increase awareness, attendance, and revenue for each athletic program as directed by the Senior Director for Marketing & Digital Media. Assist with the day to day marketing, digital media and creative services of the athletics department. Create and develop promotional plans and giveaway strategies for all sports to maximize ticket sales, attendance and the overall fan experience.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
• Coordinate and execute marketing plans and initiatives for all sports to increase awareness, attendance, and revenue for each athletic program as directed by the Senior Director for Marketing & Digital Media.
• Assist with the day to day marketing, digital media and creative services of the athletics department.
• Create and develop promotional plans and giveaway strategies for all sports to maximize ticket sales, attendance and the overall fan experience.
• Determines how each in-game element is implemented, including sponsors and game day groups (promotions, music, public address announcer, entertainment, presentations, video, band, cheerleaders, dance and mascot).
• Assist in the marketing of various ticket packages through social media and digital marketing channels and platforms as well as traditional media.
• Assist with the development of television spots, radio spots, print advertisements, schedule cards, posters and other promotional and marketing collateral as needed.
• Oversee the group sales program for all ticketed sports. Sell football, men’s and women’s basketball, and baseball group tickets. Cultivate current and past groups and new prospects to generate sales. Contact area businesses, youth organizations, and other large groups to promote the group ticket program.
• Organize and coordinate campus marketing initiatives targeted to faculty, staff and the student body to maximize support.
• Oversee and manage membership drives, benefits and fulfillment as well as events for fan clubs including children and APSU students.
• Contact philanthropy groups, university groups, and other outside vendors for partnerships at athletic events. Includes group ticket sales efforts.
• Assist with sponsorship fulfillment as needed.
• Coordinate the student intern program and game day staffing.
• Oversees the APSU cheer, dance and mascot programs and coordinates game day operations of the football marching band and basketball pep band.
• Other duties as assigned.
Essential Functions
• Knowledge of related Digital and Social Media.
Physical Requirements
Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work, and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work.
Required Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree
• Three (3) years of experience related to the above described duties which includes Athletics Marketing and Promotions, Digital and Social Media, and/or Game Operations.
