SUMMARY
The Foundation assistant director of development for athletics supports the core values of the Emporia State University Foundation and assures quality services to students, faculty, staff, parents, outside organizations and communities. He/she is a leader, a talented fund-raiser, mission-oriented, and philanthropic-minded.
The Emporia State University Foundation supports the University in its private fundraising and charitable efforts for the purpose of supplementing and enhancing University programs, activities and educational opportunities.
REPORTING STRUCTURE
Reporting directly to the vice president for development, the assistant director of development for athletics is a colleague and peer of the Foundation development staff.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The assistant director’s primary responsibility is the development and management of a comprehensive, strategic, integrated effort to build the base of individual athletic donors and increase the level of support through annual and major giving at the University. In addition, •Manage the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of a portfolio of annual and major gift donors to be measured on personal visits, proposals presented, gifts closed and dollars raised.
•Develop and execute a strategic moves management plan to engage with prospects through email, phone and personal visitations all focused on shaping a sustainable tradition of athletic support.
•Engage the director of athletics, coaches and student athletes with donors and prospects to assist with moves management.
•Assist with the sale and stewardship of season tickets, premium seating and suites.
•Develop, coordinate and implement special events that will produce athletic program revenues.
•Maintain a knowledge of athletic department goals and updates to be able to tell the story of Hornet Athletics to inspire gifts at a higher level.
•Maintain a knowledge of and compliance with NCAA, MIAA, and institutional rules related to this position.
•Articulate the vision, mission, goals and core values of the University.

Some evening and weekend work and travel are required.
Required
• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution of higher education.
• Prior experience in a position that required:
◦ Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
◦ Ability to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities.
◦ Commitment to customer service.
• Demonstrated ability to manage several projects simultaneously and to work in a fast-paced and complex environment, with sharp attention to detail and accuracy.
• Demonstrated judgment and the ability to work independently and reliably, and meet deadlines with a minimum amount of supervision.
• Demonstrated ability to interact with a diverse group of individuals in a collaborative and professional manner.
• Demonstrated administrative skills including the ability to proactively identify issues and make suggestions for improvement, and to efficiently organize projects, tasks and records.
• Demonstrated proficiency of a broad range of software and computer systems, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and the Internet.
• Demonstrated communication skills showing the ability to listen, speak and write effectively and professionally.
• Demonstrate strong interpersonal and organizational skills and aptitude for working with people of all ages and different personalities.
Preferred
• Minimum of one year of progressive fundraising, sales, marketing or related experience.
• Experience in a higher education environment.
• Experience with Raiser’s Edge software.
