Widener University’s Department of Athletics is currently seeking highly qualified applicants for the position of Sports Information Director.
This is a full-time, 12-month appointment with the responsibilities to oversee and direct athletic communications for 22 varsity intercollegiate sports, and manage a graduate assistant position.
Additional duties within the department may be assigned.
The successful candidate will be responsible for writing and editing press releases and game stories; student-athlete regional and national award nominations, producing athletic publications, including game programs and media guides; managing press boxes at home football and basketball events; maintaining the Widener University athletics website and social media sites; and the compiling and distribution of statistics.
The candidate will also be responsible for supervision of a Sports Information Graduate Assistant position and limited training of student workers and other duties as assigned by the or Director of Athletics in accordance with the Department of Athletics, University, Middle Atlantic Conference, NCAA, and other related association rules and regulations.
Required qualifications include
Bachelor's degree in a related field.
Experience in an SID office with a minimum of three years of collegiate sports information experience preferred. Experience with media software, social media and related technologies.
Strong communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills required.
Experience with Stat Crew in various sports; ability to multi-task; willingness to work evening and weekend hours; a background in website maintenance and vision; experience with Adobe Photoshop and In-Design is also preferred.
Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable through the university.
Preference for Master’s degree and experience with collegiate sports.
