The primary goals will always be to extend California Baptist University’s brand’s reach, by coordinating and implementing marketing plans for the athletic department and its athletic programs. The successful candidate will be responsible for the marketing, promotions and social media initiatives for the department and each of its 19 sport programs. These initiatives should focus on increasing attendance at events and generating revenue by building the student and fan experience in strategic and creative ways while advancing the Lancers brand.
Other duties may be assigned.
1.Understand and agree to abide by the mission of CBU and the CBU Athletics Department.
2.Develop and execute short and long term strategic marketing, advertising and promotional plans to increase brand awareness, attendance and revenue for men’s and women’s sports.
3.Create campaign themes and design corresponding collateral materials encouraging students and community participation.
4.Develop student and community outreach plans enhancing relationships with student organizations, community groups, churches, chambers, and businesses.
5.Design and distribute marketing materials for sponsors, vendors, campus departments and other key audiences.
6.Help develop and coordinate corporate sponsorship packages, and presentations helping to increase brand awareness and departmental revenue.
7.Coordinate the recruiting and selection of yearly marketing interns. Schedule hours per week assignments, participate in weekly meetings, and set-up and tear down of Lancer events.
8.Strategically develop promotions schedule for Lancer athletics, and research and purchase promotional items for selected games.
9.Assist in developing and overseeing Lancers Kids club.
10.Identify and meet with key community groups, i.e. youth soccer, volleyball clubs, youth basketball clubs, leagues, churches and schools. Work with groups on special events during the athletics seasons.
11.Work closely with contracted graphic design company and student graphic intern.
12.Communicate effectively with coaches, University staff, media and athletic staff.
13.Represent California Baptist University athletics when attending community events, luncheons, business meetings, etc.
14.Maintain up-to-date information of sports regulations, rule changes, conference and NCAA policies, and report all compliance issues to compliance office.This position could be responsible for assigning work and/or giving direction to part-time Student Workers, in order to complete office work assignments.

• Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications.
• A thorough knowledge of: Business English and arithmetic; general office methods, procedures and practices.
• Ability to plan, develop, and coordinate multiple projects.
• Ability to read and write at a level appropriate to the duties of the position.
• Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a diverse faculty, staff and student body.
• Ability to supervise and train staff, including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments.
• Strong organizational skills and detailed oriented.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Excellent telephone courtesy knowledge and experience.
• Ability to coordinate and organize meetings and/or special events.
• Knowledge of standard budgeting and expenditure control procedures and documentation.
• Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures.
• Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments.
• Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials.
• Ability to investigate and analyze information and to draw conclusions.
Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university; or two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior collegiate sports and/or professional experience strongly preferred with emphasis on fan engagement and social media integration.
