POSITION TITLE: Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance and Sports Information
DEPARTMENT: Athletics
POSITION CLASSIFICATION: This position is Nonclassified, Full-time, carries an Exempt status under the Fair Labor Standards Act, and serves at the will and pleasure of the President. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position will assist the Director of Athletics in the responsibility of assuring that the conduct of the intercollegiate athletics program at Bluefield State College complies with all applicable rules and regulation of the NCAA. Assist with the implementation, and maintenance of a computerized monitoring system of compliance. Sport’s Information Summary- The person in this position will also promote the various athletic department sports teams, coaches, players, and activities through the development of materials, web site maintenance, composing and distributing press releases, and maintaining records with the media.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Athletic Compliance: Responsible for managing athletic compliance, including but not limited to monitoring of NCAA initial eligibility requirements for certifications of all first time participant student-athletes and NCAA eligibility requirements of all two year college and four year college transfers. He/she will serve as the Primary NCAA Initial Eligibility Contact for Bluefield State College and the Department of Athletics. This includes establishing written policies and procedures for the monitoring and reporting of Clearinghouse information. Process the Institutional Request List which requests eligibility information on all prospective student athletes being recruited by Bluefield State College. Must have knowledge of accessing the Clearinghouse computerized software system. Disseminate eligibility results to members of the coaching staff, Athletic Director, FAR, Registrars, and Admissions Personnel. Responsible for the Athletic Department rules education and coordination of coaches recruiting test. Responsible for the NCAA Compliance Assistant Software Program. This includes creating a yearly informational database profile for all student athletes. Information is gathered from Financial Aid, Registrars, and Admissions, which is record manually and inputted into the database. Produce numerous reports needed by the institution for NCAA, and Governmental Reports (EADA USCAA, & IPEDS). Providing rules interpretations for the Athletic Department and institutional staff members responsible for certification of eligibility. Investigating and resolving NCAA rules violations. Filing appeals for student athletes to gain or regain eligibility. Liaison to different departments on campus. Performs other duties as assigned.
Sports Information:
Responsible for updating the athletic web site for content. This includes all pre-season, in-season, and post season materials for all NCAA Division II sports. Information to be posted includes rosters, statistics, graphics, pictures, schedules, and etc. Responsible for all athletic department publications including recruiting materials, game day materials, and media guides. Responsible for producing departmental press releases involving student athletes, staff, athletic alumni, and anything else relating to athletics. Also for promoting student athletes and coaches for various NCAA, and other awards available. Responsible for production of game day materials to be released to the media and fans attending the game. Responsible for game day operations and oversee game workers. Also responsible for providing statistics and press releases to the Media, and the NCAA.
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants must have an earned Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Sport’s Management, Business or related field. A minimum of one year of Athletic Compliance experience, knowledge of NCAA Rules and Regulations required. Preferred-Sports Information/Media experience and/or related knowledge (Coaching experience not required).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s degree in Marketing, Sport’s Management, Business or related field.

Additional Salary Information: COMPENSATION: Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Position is dependent upon available funding.
