The Director of Marketing manages marketing and promotional efforts in support of ticket revenue and fan attendance generation for football and men's and women's basketball and other intercollegiate athletics programs, where appropriate.
The Director of Marketing is also responsible for promotional and production aspects of athletics events and activities of football, men's and women's basketball, volleyball, and other athletic sports programs as designated, including event entertainment and contest promotions.
Responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing a Sports Marketing Plan to maximize season ticket sales, individual event ticket sales and group ticket sales; this includes renewals and the generation of new ticket purchases for football, men and women's basketball and other intercollegiate athletics programs, where appropriate.
- Developing and implementing an on-campus promotions plan for the University community designed to increase spectator attendance at ticketed athletics events.
- Developing and implementing a marketing plan for Department's social media sites.
- Developing and implementing a grass roots sports marketing program in the local community
- Supervising the in-event entertainment production including the pre- and post- intermission activities of the Dance Team, Cheerleaders, Pep Band, mascot, anthem performers, in-event entertainment, and contest promotions for the three revenue-generating sports - Managing efforts in support of promotion of other sport programs
- Establishing and cultivating relationships with the University community including students, campus groups, faculty, and staff in order to enhance good will and promote positive relationships with the Columbia University athletics programs
- Supervising a staff of non-appointed, work study, and intern personnel
- Working collaboratively with the Offices of Media Relations and Strategic Communications and the Athletics Ticket Office
- Exhibiting the highest professional standards and ethical behavior with adherence to NCAA, Ivy League Conference, University, and the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and Physical Education rules and regulations and/or Code of Ethics
- Contributing to the maintenance of good working relationships with all members of the Department
- Assuming other duties as assigned by the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics and
Physical Education
• 3-5 years of related experience;
-Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred,
or equivalent related experience required
Demonstrated experience in digital marketing with significant hands-on social media experience
-Demonstrated experience with in-game entertainment
