Upper Iowa University invites applications for the position of Assistant/Associate Athletic Director for Compliance on the Fayette campus. The Assistant/Associate Athletic Director for Compliance is a member of the Department of Athletics senior staff reporting to and collaborating with the Director of Athletics on the day-to-day operation, management, and administration of the department.
Establish and maintain a compliance program that will ensure proper transmission, administration, and interpretation of National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), North Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC), Mid-American Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA), and University policies and procedures to the department, student-athletes, alumni, and friends of the program. Develop and coordinate an education program for coaches, staff, and student-athletes that include processes for disseminating new rules information and interpretations. Develop, coordinate, and deliver a program for conducting rules and eligibility meetings for student-athletes. Respond to requests by University officials, coaches, staff, student-athletes, and others regarding rules clarification and interpretation. Monitor and audit rules compliance systems, policies, procedures, and practices.
Oversee the certification of initial and continuing athletics eligibility and financial aid for student-athletes. Serve as the University’s principal investigator for all alleged violations in accordance with applicable NCAA and NSIC rules, policies and procedures. Assist and advise the Director of Athletics in establishing departmental goals and objectives, program policies and procedures, operations, personnel, determining solutions, and implementation of administrative procedures. Administration and supervisory oversight of assigned athletic programs and functional area. Assist the Director of Athletics in identifying and managing issues impacting the Athletic Department’s reputation, image, and public relations. Serve on department and University committees as needed.
Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred. Minimum of four (4) years of professional experience with intercollegiate athletic administration is preferred. Must possess excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills. Must be highly motivated, an energetic self-starter, have sound judgment and decision-making ability along with attention to detail.
