Reporting to the Director of Athletics, serves as the lead development officer for the Athletics Department; provides strategic direction and coordination for the University's athletics development efforts to include developing and implementing fund-raising plans and strategies to generate annual and major gift support from individuals, corporations, and foundations; develops and implements comprehensive fund-raising strategies for direct identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of major gift prospects; manages and provides strategic direction for the development and implementation of comprehensive fund-raising strategies for annual giving appeals; assists coaches and administrators in determining private gift needs and strategies for fulfilling needs; prepares proposals for prospects, arranges meetings for presentations, solicits gifts and determines needed follow-up actions and proper donor stewardship; creates and distributes quarterly or semi-annual communications to donors; prepares reports related to goals and annual fund-raising efforts; prepares annual budget requests and departmental budget; supervises staff to include assigning duties, checking work, approving time off, preparing evaluations, and handling disciplinary issues; prepares plans for staff development and a written annual program; ensures giving records are recorded and maintained accurately; attends various events and meetings which require working nights and weekends; coordinates all solicitations with University development, collaborates with the athletics tickets sales office and Jaguar Sports Properties; ensures confidentiality of donor information; regular and prompt attendance; ability to work schedule as defined and additional hours as required; related duties as required.
Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited institution as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama and four years of directly related professional experience in development, athletics or sales. A master's degree is preferred.
