Supports Tulane athletics programs and external departments to promote and enhance, through digital and social media, the image of the Tulane University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.
Serves as the point person for comprehensive integrated communications and marketing strategies which utilize online communications tools, with special attention to social media, video and email communications. The successful candidate should be highly organized, detail-oriented, a good communicator and possess the ability to handle numerous assignments in a timely manner with the flexibility to adjust to unscheduled developments involving immediate attention. Must be proficient in video and editing.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Oversee the department’s social media activities, including updating and managing Tulane Athletics’ presence on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, etc. using video, photo, graphics and any other available assets, while monitoring brand-related online conversations. Lead, execute and measure integrated online campaigns, standalone programs and one-time projects that leverage social and multimedia platforms. Assist external departments in the creation and implementation of social media strategies and oversee the completion of the strategies in each external area.
2. Oversee the creation, editing and implementation of video content for TulaneGreenwave.com, Tulane’s social media accounts and various external channels. Maintain fresh and innovative video clips for Tulane Athletics’ social media channels.
3. Coordinates the activities of the athletics video staff for video production, which includes but is not limited to: highlights of athletic contests, motivational videos for athletic teams, programming for special events, videos for display boards at athletic venues, as well as videos for use on web, social media and television.
4. Oversee, develop and execute the email marketing calendar for the athletics department which includes working with various external units to create, prep, distribute and execute the overall email communications plan to external constituents.
5. Oversee and update content on TulaneGreenWave.com. This includes, but is not limited to, keeping the overall site updated by working with various groups, creating graphics and generating fresh content, gathering photos for website use and serving as a point person with Sidearm Sports. Serve as backup for other staff members.
6. Oversee the monitoring and reporting of key social media, web and email analytics and provide relevant analysis and recommendations to the external relations group.
7. NCAA Related: Ensures that all Department of Athletics and University related activities operate in full compliance with university, conference and NCAA rules and regulations. Attends and participates in scheduled compliance seminars and complies with all the Athletic Department’s efforts to monitor compliance with NCAA regulations. Seeks interpretations from the compliance staff before acting when necessary. Reports potential rules violations immediately. Completes required compliance paperwork in a timely and efficient manner. Monitors all of their areas and/or programs activities closely to maintain compliance with applicable rules and regulations.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
1. Bachelor’s degree and 2 years’ experience in the marketing, video or PR field or High School diploma/equivalent and 8 years’ experience in the marketing, video or PR field.
2. Professional experience in digital & social media and hands-on web communications, design and development experience.
3. A broad understanding of web and social media communication trends and technologies.
4. Working knowledge and real-world experience in planning, managing and executing social, digital media and email communication initiatives.
5. Solid working knowledge of industry standard software and applications such as Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut Pro, etc.
6. Efficient audio and video editing skills required.
7. Experience with content management systems as well as web development experience using HTML and CSS.
8. Ability to interact effectively with coaches, administrators, student athletes, media and vendors
9. Strong organizational, management and leadership skills
10. Proven ability to multi-task effectively, prioritize assignments and meet deadlines
11. Strong writing skills
12. Availability to work flexible work schedule including nights and weekends
13. Possible travel with sport teams for select away contests
14. Thorough knowledge of NCAA and American conference rules and regulations.
