East Tennessee State University, a member of the Southern Conference, is currently accepting applications for the position of Director of Tennis and Head Men’s Tennis Coach. This is a 12-month position with benefits.
Head coach responsibilities include:
• Provide instructional expertise and direction during practice and game-day events.
• Through team practice, film review and one-on-one instructions, enhance the learning and development of the students’ skills.
• Identify prospective student athletes through scouting athletic events, film review, developing industry contacts, and analysis of various performance indicators.
• Communicate with Compliance Officer to ensure that all NCAA policies are followed.
• Monitor academic progress of program’s student athletes. Understand academic needs, communicate with Academic Support Services, receive progress reports, identify any issues that may occur and provide direction and guidance when necessary. Director of Tennis responsibilities include:
• Serve as a teacher and mentor to Tennis (W) coaching staff.
• Oversee and implement all aspects of the recruiting process.
• Responsible for preparation and managing of the annual budget for both Men’s and Women’s Tennis.
• Oversee scholarship allocations and scholarship budget management for both Men’s and Women’s Tennis
• Responsible for oversight of all team travel arrangements for both Men’s and Women’s Tennis
• Responsible for the scheduling of contests for both Men’s and Women’s Tennis
• Responsible for the ordering and inventory control of apparel and equipment for both Men’s and Women’s Tennis
Knowledge of basic principles of coaching/team supervision. Ability to effectively coordinate recruiting activities. Ability to maintain team discipline and instill proper ethical and moral standards.
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
• Three to five years of intercollegiate tennis coaching required.
• Demonstrated experience in recruiting international student-athletes
• Extensive national and international recruiting contacts
Preferred Qualifications:
• Master’s Degree
• Two years of coaching at the Division I level
