Job Description
The Associate Athletic Director will be instrumental in helping the College develop strategies that will fully integrate intercollegiate athletics into the campus community.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Serve as the athletics liaison for New Student Orientation
• Work with coaches on strategies to attract high-performing student athletes
• Serve as the liaison for strategies that involve academic advising of our student athletes
• Serve on the Academic Advisory Committee and be involved with college-wide retention discussions
• Work with coaches to discuss academic progress of their teams and to develop effective strategies for the retention of these students
• Track retention of student athletes and compile a yearly summary of such by sport and gender
• Assume a significant role in the integration of the "ten-year mindset" for many of our student athletes
• Administer and supervise the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC)
• Develop programs that will allow the College to proactively address Title IX regulations and NCAA compliance issues
• Assist in all aspects of intercollegiate sports programs in conjunction with Director of Athletics including staffing, budgeting, facility scheduling, game management, etc
• Assist in annual NCAA reports
• Assist the Athletic Director in all aspects of daily operation
• Serve as the Athletics/Admissions liaison
• Work with Director of Athletics to create philosophies and goals for each program
• Ensure athletics department is in compliance with all NCAA legislation
• Make sure coaches, student-athletes and President have completed all NCAA paperwork
• Determine eligibility and handle all transfer paperwork
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree is required; advanced degree is preferred
• A minimum of three years experience in college administration and coaching, supervision preferred
• Strong skills in professional/interpersonal communication skills and organization
• Ability to work, communicate and develop rapport with departmental staff, students, faculty, alumni, administration and the general public
• Commitment to the NCAA Division III Philosophy and the role of Athletics within a private, liberal arts college
