Description
The Account Director (AD) is responsible for the strategic development and overall leadership of one account. The AD is 100% committed to single client account. As a result, ADs have a high level of interaction with clients and are expected to manage the overall client relationship
ADs often initiate and lead the sell-in and development of new programs to their clients. ADs will be expected to take an active role in new business development via generating leads and participating in presentations and meetings. Responsibility also extends to assuming a leadership role in internal initiatives (i.e., management committees, staff events, etc.) Account teams will typically consist of multiple staff members who will report to the AD. ADs must be strong leaders, have established credibility and authority as a staff supervisor, able to manage multiple projects and events simultaneously, and have a proven ability to contribute both strategically and creatively during both planning and execution stages. ADs must have excellent writing and presentation skills and possess understanding of financial management to properly oversee all account budgets. The AD role encompasses multiple responsibilities, so strong organizational, time management and communication skills are critical.
THE CLIENT
The client is a US headquartered Multinational Corporation and is a long term partner of Octagon. As a key account for the Octagon business on a global level, we are looking for safe hands and a level head.
Octagon is the in-house sponsorship resource for the client, based out of the Asia Pacific Regional Headquarters in Singapore. As such you will be required to balance not only your own team, but the interests and input of internal stakeholders throughout South East Asia.
This client is a major player on the global Sponsorship landscape with a number of high profile partnerships which activate within the Asia Pacific region and throughout the globe.
The expectations of this role is for this person member to step up and take control of process and structure of the account. This will include the promotion, management and activation of marquee sponsorship properties for markets across South East Asia.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Client (External/Internal Relations)
• Primary duty is to cultivate relationships with current clients as primary contacts
• Drives the business project forward
• Manages the SOW, prioritizes workloads
• Becomes a trusted advisor: effectively handles crisis situations and client issues
• Point person for client for all Octagon related programs and activities
• Senior level client interaction
• Considered key player in client marketing / management team
• Viewed as highly competent and knowledgeable in area of expertise by client
Project Management
• Simultaneously leads key Sponsorship activity for the client across the Asia Pacific region. This includes involvement in Global, Regional and Local properties.
• Reviews, evaluates, negotiates complex contracts in partnership with legal
• Manages agency integration
• Informs clients of potential issues and makes recommendations
• Willingness to participate and lead internal initiatives
• Manage all client relationships and communications
• Communicates project status to MD and SAD.
Strategic Planning
• Lead approach strategically & creatively to planning; assist superiors in presenting strategies to clients
• Creates long term/annual plans

Creative Development
• Fosters creative development and works closely with the creative department to bring best in class ideas to the client

Staff Management and Leadership
• Runs team meetings
• Manages Managers; coaches and career development
• Manages schedules and staffing plans
• Act as motivator and coach for teams; demonstrates loyal and enthusiastic attitude & seeks to instill that in others
• Receives support when necessary from superiors; expected to update superiors frequently
• Identifies training and development needs of their account teams and implements process to achieve these goals
Budget Management
• Overall responsibility of project, account or department budget
• Proven track record of successful financial oversight of budgets in excess of $1MM
• Management of budget process from a profit generation perspective
Revenue Growth
• Manage successful renewal and fee increase
• Identify and progress any new business leads
• Lead new business research and presentation development process
Knowledge/Expertise
• Significant network of industry connections, especially in area of expertise
• Extensively developed an understanding of an area of industry expertise
• Comprehensive understanding of company and industry news and trends
