Position summary:
This is a part time position with a competitive salary that runs approximately 10-11 months with an average work schedule of 22-25 hours per week. The assistant director works collaboratively with the sports information director to promote the College and its programs via the College’s 18 varsity athletic teams.
Primary Responsibilities
This position involves all aspects of sports information, including but not limited to: serving as the primary media contact for several sports, serving as official statistician at various sporting events, editing and printing game programs, maintaining and updating the athletics web site (hornets.kzoo.edu) and social media channels, maintaining the photo library, assisting with the production of video web casts, historical research, writing press releases and publishing feature stories (video and written).
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree is required. Previous experience working in a college sports information office is strongly preferred. Strong computer skills along with excellent written and oral communication skills. Strong ability to multi-task, set priorities, work under pressure, and meet deadlines. Experience scoring games with StatCrew software or Presto Stats is strongly preferred. Experience with Photoshop/InDesign is preferred. Experience with PrestoSports or similar content management system is desired. Willingness and ability to work nights, weekends and a flexible schedule.

About Kalamazoo College Athletics
Kalamazoo College, an NCAA Division III member of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association, opened a $16 million outdoor athletic complex at the start of the 2012-13 season and began offering its 18th varsity sport (men’s lacrosse) in 2015-16. The men’s tennis team has a conference championship streak of 79 dating back to 1936 along with seven national championships. The men’s swimming and diving program has also produced numerous individual national champions along with a recent fourth place team finish at nationals. Kalamazoo College was the host site for the 2016 NCAA III Tennis Championships and is hosting again in May 2019.
