Mercer Athletics is looking for a creative and innovative leader to head the department’s efforts in digital and social media strategy, content creation and graphic design.
The Director of New & Creative Media responsibilities include, but not limited to, developing, creating and managing the production of creative assets including graphics, short form video, GIFS, and print collateral to be used for recruiting prospective student-athletes to the University. Coordination with all external units, including marketing, media relations, video as well as University communications, to develop content.
The Director of New & Creative Media is required to comply fully with all NCAA, Southern Conference and Mercer University rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
Duties include:
• Create and manage social media initiatives
• Create still graphics and other content for social media and other marketing efforts
• Create motion graphics for use in video content and in-venue video boards
• Shoot and edit video content for distribution through multiple platforms, including broadcasts, in-venue videoboards, website and other digital media
• Recruit and train student workers in graphic design
Education Requirements:
• Bachelor's Degree required.
• Preferred Field of Study: Graphic arts/design, media studies, marketing or related field.
Software skills required:
• Adobe Creative Suite (Including but not limited to Photoshop, After Effects, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere, Etc.)
• Social media platforms (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, YouTube, etc.)
• An understanding of intercollegiate athletics
Experience and other skills required:
• Three years of marketing, promotions, or public relations experience in intercollegiate athletics.
• Demonstrated graphic design experience.
• Experience formulating and/or managing social media initiatives
• Strong verbal and written communications skills.
• Experience as a cinematographer, including technical skill with DSLR and cinema cameras
• Experience with developing marketing plans.
Other skills preferred:
• Five years of marketing, promotions, or public relations experience in intercollegiate athletics.
• Supervisory and budget management experience.
Candidates should be prepared to submit a graphic design portfolio and video demo reel.
