Founded in 1897, Piedmont College is a private, comprehensive liberal arts college with an enrollment of approximately 2,300 students at campuses in Demorest and Athens, Georgia. The College is a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III and the USA South Athletic Conference. The mission of the Piedmont College Athletic Department is based on the belief that intercollegiate athletics are an integral part of the college’s overall educational program and contribute to the complete development of its students.
Piedmont College is seeking applications for the position of Assistant Director of Athletic Communications, a full-time, 10-month salaried position with benefits. Successful candidates shall possess an understanding of communications at the Division III level and a commitment to the Division III philosophy which places priority on the overall quality of the educational experience and on the successful completion of all students’ academic programs.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Maintain and update regularly the athletic department website, post any and all information pertinent to the activities of all intercollegiate teams; Accumulate and report required conference, regional and national statistics as required; Report scores and relevant information on Piedmont College sports contests to various media channels; The operation of the public address system at all sports events; Organize and oversee activities of statistical personnel necessary at each home athletic contest: Assigning of scorekeeper, clock keepers, and PA announcer; Provide Stat Crew services; Coordinating and implementing all “live broadcast” of athletic events; Publish and make available game rosters for games, tournaments and athletic events held on Piedmont Athletic Facilities; Acceptance of service on college committees and other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics or Director of Athletic Communications; Attend professional conferences and meetings to enhance professional development.
Compliance with all NCAA, USA South, and Piedmont College rules and regulations is expected without exception. The Assistant Director of Athletic Communications reports directly to the Director of Athletic Communications.
Qualifications, Experience and Skills:
A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution is required. Master’s degree and athletic communications experience at the collegiate level preferred. Additional qualities desired in a successful candidate include but are not limited to understanding of the environment of a small liberal arts college; strong organizational, leadership, and interpersonal skills; commitment to personal and programmatic integrity.
