The College of Charleston invites applications for the position of Director of Sports Nutrition. This position manages all aspects of nutritional services for student-athletes at the College of Charleston. The position reports directly to the Director of Strength and Conditioning. Duties include but are not limited to: working with the Director of Strength and Conditioning to provide nutritional items for student-athletes that complement the body composition goals of each student; providing educational and nutritional counseling to student-athletes and coaches; consulting with the sports medicine staff regarding illnesses/injuries; consulting with coaching staff regarding performance standards; developing educational material; performing body composition and nutritional analysis; collaborating with on campus food vendors; procuring nutritional items for the fueling station and other duties as assigned.
The successful candidate must possess a Bachelor’s Degree and be a Registered Dietician who is eligible for licensure in the state of South Carolina. A Master’s degree is preferred. CSSD (Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics) credential is highly recommended. One to two years of experience working as a sports nutritionist in individualized and group counseling is recommended. The candidate must have a high level of sports-specific nutrition knowledge and be well versed in body composition analysis, performance nutrition and eating disorders. Effective written and oral communication skills are critical. Ability to manage a budget is required. The candidate must be able to collaborate with coaches, sports medicine and strength and coaching personnel. Must have knowledge of and adhere to FERPA/HIPPA and NCAA, College of Charleston and state of South Carolina rules and regulations.
The is a new, part-time hourly position with no benefits. During the academic year (August 1- April 30th) the Director will work approximately 30 hours per week. During the summer and holidays approximately 5-10 hours a week will be required. The hourly rate will vary between $30-$35/ hour dependent upon experience. Some weekend and holiday work may be required based on specific sport seasons.
