Tufts University seeks applicants for the position of Senior Associate Athletic Director. Tufts Athletics has won nine NCAA team championships since 2010 and has finished in the top 10 of the Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup in each of the last five years, including a program-best 4th place finish last year. Tufts Athletics oversees the Physical Education Department and manages all athletics facilities, including the Steve Tisch Sports & Fitness Center that opened in 2012.
The Senior Associate Director of Athletics will have principal duties that will include:
• Assist with administering all elements of varsity athletics, physical education and recreation at Tufts University.
• Manage day-to-day operations of the department and support the Director of Athletics in the overall leadership of the department.
• Manage operational units within the department and supervise the coaching staff and operations for multiple varsity sports.
• Assist with budget planning and management.
• Serve as an integral member of the department’s senior management team.
• Participate in the development and execution of the department’s long-term vision and planning.
• Serve on various campus/NESCAC committees and as a primary department liaison to various university units and departments.
• Oversee the evaluation process for coaches, staff, sport programs and department units.
• Plan and manage several department-wide events.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director.
• Bachelor’s degree
• Five years of experience in intercollegiate athletics administration or equivalent
• Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
• Commitment to gender equity, rules compliance, diversity and inclusion and the mission of Tufts University
Ability to foster positive working relationships with fellow athletics department staff members, student-athletes, other members of the Tufts community, and university alumni and supporters
