This position is made possible by the NCAA Strategic Alliance Matching Grant and is guaranteed through the the end of the 2018-19 academic year. As a requirement of this grant, candidates must be an ethnic minority and/or woman.
Depending on the qualifications of the successful candidate, administrative duties may include but may not be limited to the following: Game Management, Transportation Coordination, Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), Diversity and Inclusion, External Affairs, Corporate Sponsorship, and Auggie Compass oversight.
Coaching duties include the following:
Instructing student-athletes on physical health, team concepts, safety, and sport-specific skills on both an individual and team basis. Identify and recruit talented and qualified prospective student-athletes according to program recruiting goals. Teach, advise and mentor student-athletes on life-skills. Assist Head Coach with monitoring and supporting academic progress of student-athletes/teams to exceed athletic department standards; intervenes with appropriate corrective action as needed. Assist Head Coach to maintain acceptable student-athlete retention rates to the team and/or institution. Assist head coach to create sport-specific practice and game plans, analyze film and facilitate team meetings.
Other duties as assigned.
• At least three (3) years of coaching experience required, college experience preferred. Recruiting experience prefered.
• Knowledge and adherence to the MIAC Code of Ethics and follow MIAC and NCAA Division III guidelines and regulations, while exhibiting behavior that represents a positive image of the athletic program and the college.
• Proven integrity and leadership skills.
• Successful candidates must have strong organizational and communication skills, the ability to build and strengthen cross-campus relationships, ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a diverse work environment.
• Ability to be attentive to details, be accurate, be precise.
• Ability to lead/teach and mentor others.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment; and work independently with little supervision.
• Ability to reason/analyze; maintain confidentiality; and demonstrate patience and understanding.
• Ability to show initiative; organize workflow; manage one or more projects; and handle frequent interruptions.
