HEAD MEN’S GOLF COACH AND DIRECTOR OF GOLF OPERATIONS (STAFF CLASSIFICATION)
FULL-TIME (10 MONTHS) DEPARTMENT OF ATHLETICS
HIRING RANGE: $32,200 TO $34,100 ANNUALLY
Whitworth University is seeking applications for its Head Men’s Coach/Director of Golf Operations position. This is a full-time, 10-month exempt position located in Spokane, WA. Resumes will be accepted until position is filled.
Reporting to the Director of Athletics, the head men’s golf coach is responsible for all phases of coaching a competitive collegiate men’s golf program. The coach will work cooperatively across the Whitworth community to advance the mission of the University. Primary responsibilities include: recruiting, coaching, and fostering the academic achievement and physical well-being of student-athletes. Coaching duties include, planning and administering practices, scheduling tournaments and travel, managing team budget, fundraising, and other administrative responsibilities involved with coaching. Additionally, this individual will provide oversite of the university’s golf simulator, assist with the Athletic Department’s annual fundraising tournament as well as other duties within the department commensurate with the coach’s, knowledge, skill, interests, and experience.
Whitworth golf plays in the Norwest Conference, and has won the past two conference championships and seven since 2004. The ideal coach is a dynamic Christ-centered individual capable of leading a championship program. Candidates will have knowledge of and adherence to NCAA regulations, a strong ability to recruit, a heart for mentoring students, and a desire to be part of a community of coaches and staff committed to pursuing excellence in academics, athletics and the character of their student-athletes.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Master’s degree and three years demonstrated successful coaching experience at the college or university level desired; experience may be considered in lieu of advanced degree requirement.
• Must meet eligibility requirements to work in the United States by the time the appointment is scheduled to begin and continue to work legally for the proposed term of employment. (Including OPT)
• A personal commitment to the Christian faith and to the integration of faith and learning.
• Demonstrated awareness of and commitment to effectively addressing the unique needs and concerns of others from a variety of diverse backgrounds including those from underrepresented racial/ethnic populations.
• Demonstrated awareness and commitment to effectively establishing relationships and positive communications across multiple dimensions of diversity including, but not limited to race, gender, physical limitations, class or religious perspectives.
• A commitment to the educational mission of Whitworth University as a Christian liberal arts university affiliated with the Presbyterian church.
• A valid driver's license.
