The College of St. Scholastica invites applications for the position of Athletic Director to lead a comprehensive NCAA Division III men’s and women’s intercollegiate athletic program. The Athletic Director is responsible for shaping and implementing the strategic focus of the department to achieve College goals, demonstrating a strong commitment to the College’s Catholic, Benedictine heritage and to inclusive excellence.
The director is responsible for providing administrative direction and oversight for all intercollegiate athletics staff, programs, facilities, policies and activities and will sustain a culture of student-athlete academic excellence and well-being. This position oversees the budget and allocation of resources and marketing efforts and cultivates and develops external constituency relationships that will lead to growth of athletics funding. In addition the director must ensure strict compliance with regulations governing intercollegiate athletics and all College, federal and state guidelines.
A master’s degree is preferred. A bachelor’s degree and five years of intercollegiate coaching and athletic program administration experience, two years of which were in a supervisory/managerial role, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience is required. The director must be able to provide strong, visionary leadership for the athletic program; ensure an environment that promotes a commitment to student academic achievement, retention and graduation; create a welcoming and supportive environment for diversity and inclusion within athletics; sustain a culture of sportsmanship and respect; and possess strong interpersonal communication skills.
