The Midwest Conference (MWC) invites applications for the position of Director of Sport Administration. The successful candidate will be an integral member of the MWC administrative staff, working closely with the Executive Director and the Director of Media and Information. The Director of Sport Administration will oversee the administration of sport-specific functions for the league’s 20 sports, coordinate and assist with the administration of end-of-season tournaments and championships and serve as the primary contact for sport-specific vendor agreements.
Responsibilities –
Oversee administration of sport-specific functions for the league’s 20 sports:
• Serve as primary contact on sport-specific MWC legislation;
• Generate league-mandated schedules and confirm composite schedules;
• Serve as liaison to Coordinators of Officials on issues related to schedules.
Coordinate and assist with the administration of end-of-season tournaments and championships:
• Assist host institutions in preparation for on-campus end-of-season MWC tournaments and championships;
• Organize and administer neutral site tournaments & championships (men & women’s golf, men & women’s tennis);
• Travel to and serve as MWC administrator at on-campus MWC tournaments and championships.
Serve as primary contact for sport-specific vendor agreements:
• Negotiate and renew ball agreements;
• Coordinate and oversee video exchange and analysis programs;
• Design and market tournament/championship apparel.
Areas of Opportunity –
• Serve as member of planning and selection committee for the MWC Female and Ethnic Minority Mentoring Program;
• Partner with member institution for on-campus athletic administration experiences;
• Attend MWC governance meetings of coaches, directors of athletics and faculty athletic representatives.
Qualifications
–Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, required. Strong interest in intercollegiate athletics and administration, and familiarity with the NCAA and Division III philosophy. Minimum of two years experience working in a campus or conference athletic department. Strong written and oral communication skills. Must be highly organized and able to work independently on major projects, and demonstrate proficiency in Word, Excel and Google Docs.
Evening and weekend work with occasional travel is required; individual should possess a valid driver’s license.
Term - 2-year, full-time 11-month non-exempt entry-level position. Beginning August 1, 2017 and concluding June 30, 2019. Required orientation July 27 & 28, 2017.
Annual Compensation - $23,660 salary, plus benefits. $3,000/year professional development stipend for use on approved programming.
