The Specialized Foundation (TSF)
SUMMARY

The Specialized Foundation Partnership Director has the primary focus of fundraising through donor partnerships development. Primary focus will be to develop donor partnerships that will extend the pervasiveness of the Riding for Focus School Cycling Programs, expanding more grants to more schools and impacting more children.
HOW YOU’LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE
The Specialized Foundation (TSF) aims to increase accessibility to cycling through both fun and sustainable school cycling programs. And through these programs, founded by with primary scientific research, we hope to advance the understanding of how cycling can help improve the social, emotional, and physical wellbeing of children, with a focus on those with learning differences like ADHD.
This leader would report the TSF CEO and is the chief fundraising executive leading donations and partnerships.
The Director of Development is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing all TSF’s fundraising including, the major gifts program, annual fund, planned giving, special events and capital campaigns. The Director works closely with TSF’s CEO and the Board of Directors in all development and fund raising endeavors.
Job Responsibilities
• Oversee prospect research. Meet prospective donors and supporters on a continual basis to establish effective communications with them.
• Grow a major gifts program including identification, cultivation and solicitation of major donors. Investigate possibilities of program partnerships and strategic alliances that will extend the organization's brand in the community and increase avenues of support.
• Drive grant seeking including research, proposal writing, and reporting requirements. Responsible for securing general operating and capacity building partnership grants. Writing and submitting new and renewed grants and reports.
• Responsible for developing an annual comprehensive development plan, in collaboration with the CEO, develop targeted goals, objectives, methods, quantifiable outcomes and timelines which will achieve budgeted goals.
• Make public appearances/accept speaking engagements to share information about the The Specialized Foundation with the community.
• Manage the production and distribution of quality ancillary materials that support development and marketing goals.
• Oversee fundraising database and tracking systems and tools.
• Supervise and collaborate with other fundraising staff.
• Maintain gift recognition programs.
• Demonstrate professional conduct always.
WHAT YOU NEED TO WIN
Preferred Qualifications:
• Must embrace the mission to “Use cycling as a tool for children to achieve academic, health, and social success”
• 5 years minimum experience in professional non-profit fundraising with private and public sector donors, driving the grant application process. Master's degree or Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) accreditation preferred.
• Proven success in areas of individual and corporate giving as well as grant writing and funding.
• Strong interpersonal and writing skills. Executive presence, ability to work at and with all levels of the organization, internal and external.
• Have knowledge and experience in fund raising techniques, particularly major gift fundraising.
• Possess the skills to work with and motivate staff, board members and other volunteers, working in an efficient yet effective lean organization.
• Have the desire to get out of the office and build external relationships.
• Be a “self-starter” and goal driven to initiate donor visits and fundraising calls.
• Be organized and exhibit “follow through” on tasks and goals.
• Display a positive attitude, show concern for people and community, demonstrate presence, self-confidence, common sense and good listening ability.
• A bachelor’s degree.
• Experienced with business development contracts and contract negotiation
• Experience in education/academics or medical/public health is a plus
• Technology & Tools Savvy Experience ability to operate independently
◦ Documented experience with nonprofit marketing and social media.
◦ Computers/Devices: PC, Mac, iOS, Android
◦ Tools: PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Google Apps, Confluence/JIRA, SalesForce CRM, Campaign & Analytic Tools
• Strong interest and passion for cycling and fitness, children and education. Amateur or professional riding is NOT required.
