The University of Iowa Foundation is looking to add two driven, energetic development officers to its dynamic 16-member athletics development team committed to success for UI student-athletes and working with a dedicated base of fans, alumni, and letterwinners to advance the UI’s 24 Division I athletics programs. The recently completed University-wide For Iowa Forever More campaign resulted in a total of $1.975 billion in gift commitments, with athletics raising over $273 million during the eight-year campaign. With an annual fund of over $17 million and 16,500 annual contributors, Iowa Athletics enjoys a strong base of support from our alumni and ticket holders, making the Tigerhawk one of the most recognizable brands in college athletics. In addition, Hawkeye Athletics has an ambitious athletics facilities master plan, with more than $200 million in facility improvements on the horizon, including an $89 million renovation to historic Kinnick Stadium. Successful candidates will demonstrate an understanding of and appreciation for intercollegiate athletics—particularly Hawkeye Athletics—and their role in a complex academic environment.
Assistant Director, Annual Giving, Intercollegiate Athletics:
Works with supervisor on strategic execution and management of a comprehensive I-Club annual giving program to maximize revenue for Hawkeye Athletics. Promotes annual giving message by executing a coordinated mix of communications and solicitation strategies. Increases revenue in the program through calls, visits, solicitations, and stewardship of new and existing annual gift and premium seating contributors. Works with supervisor to evaluate performance of the athletics annual giving program and upgrade strategy effectiveness. Manages upper-end annual gift portfolio and works with UI Athletics as our letterwinner/Varsity Club liaison for events, reunions, and development strategies.
Associate Director, Intercollegiate Athletics:
Managing a major gift prospect portfolio of 75-125 prospects, working with supervisor to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward prospects for gifts of $50,000 and up. Actively works with UI Athletics Sr. Management on capital campaigns, endowments, and other athletics initiatives. Assists athletics leadership and supervisor to maximize revenue generation strategies for major gifts and premium seating.
Qualifications for Assistant Director:
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or related field required. One to three years of experience in annual giving, marketing, or advertising, preferably in an intercollegiate athletics environment. Experience with social media engagement, direct mail, customer service, internet marketing, market research, project management, and print production helpful. Involves travel and participation in evening and weekend work-related activities. Must have superior written and verbal communication skills. Must have a valid driver’s license and provide own transportation (mileage reimbursable) when needed.
Qualifications for Associate Director:
Bachelor’s degree required. Minimum of three to five years of experience in fundraising, sales, ticketing, marketing, or advertising, preferably in an intercollegiate athletics or professional sports environment (or similar/related experience). Must have superior written and verbal communication skills. Position travels frequently (60%) in the Midwest and nationally, including evening and weekend work-related activities and working all home football games. Must have a valid driver’s license and provide own transportation (mileage reimbursable) when needed.
