THE OPPORTUNITY: K-State seeks an experienced and knowledgeable leader to direct a comprehensive NCAA Division I men's and women's intercollegiate athletics program. Candidates should possess a strong commitment to both academic and competitive excellence for our more than 400 student-athletes. A philosophical approach demonstrative of the integrity that reflects core institutional values is required. Candidates must have a proven track record of successful management and leadership in athletics administration, as well as strong interpersonal communication skills. The candidate must have the ability to work with diverse populations of students, staff, faculty, and the public and possess a clear understanding of the role of athletics in a major research university setting.
Additionally, the position oversees personnel, financial operations, strategic planning, fundraising, marketing, media negotiations, athletics facilities and all other duties as assigned by the University President. The Director also must ensure strict compliance with regulations governing intercollegiate athletics and all applicable University and state guidelines. The Director reports directly to the University President and serves on the President's Cabinet.
ATHLETICS INFORMATION: The goal of Athletics is to strengthen the interconnectivity between intercollegiate athletics and the campus community that prepares our student-athletes for success in school, in sport, and after graduation and benefits our university, community, and state. K-State's athletics department has an annual operating budget in excess of $72 million and employs a full time staff of 165 supporting, 16 men's and women's sport programs as a member of the prestigious Big 12 Conference. The University sponsors the following intercollegiate sports at the NCAA Division I/FBC Autonomy level: baseball, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's cross country, football, men's and women's golf, women's rowing, women's soccer, women's tennis, men's and women's track and field, and women's volleyball.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Lead and manage an administrative team and coaching staff, including the recruitment and hiring of qualified personnel, evaluation of staff and coaching performance, and professional development
•Promote and foster the education, development, and overall experience of student-athletes
•Provide budget oversight
•Work with athletics development team to cultivate and develop external constituency relationships that will lead to growth of athletics funding
•Negotiate, develop and manage contracts for commercial relationships
•Manage and provide oversight of athletics facilities
•Ensure compliance with NCAA, Big 12, and institutional bylaws and policies
•Serve as Chair and CEO of K-State Athletics, Inc., the corporation that operates K-State's athletic programs and facilities
•Represent the University ethically and professionally to achieve positive relationships with students, staff, faculty, media, alumni, and local, state, and national communities

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Ability to strategically plan for the future
• Ability to provide an environment in which the education, welfare and graduation of the student-athlete is a priority
• Ability to lead equal opportunity efforts in a complex organization, and in fostering a workplace free from discrimination and bias
• Experience managing coaches and senior staff
• Demonstrated experience in responsible fiscal management
• Demonstrated experience in fundraising and development
• Experience and success as an athletics administrator at a NCAA Division I university
• Desire and ability to work well with the University community, including students, staff, faculty, and external constituents
• Strong interpersonal communication skills
• Personal and professional integrity
• Bachelor's degree
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Experience and success as an athletics administrator at FBS Autonomy university
• Experience serving as a sport administrator
• Ability to oversee aggressive initiatives in marketing and ticket sales
• Master's or professional degree
