Applications are being accepted for the position of Assistant Athletic Director for Development & Revenue Generation. This is a full-time position providing fundraising leadership, in collaboration with the University Advancement and Athletic departments, to ensure a vibrant Athletics program in which Minnesota State student-athletes achieve their educational goals within a comprehensive public university setting.
Minnesota State University Mankato is the flagship of the Minnesota State system. Over 15,000 students are enrolled on our beautiful urban campus located in a vibrant tech and manufacturing community of 90,000 seventy-five miles south of Minneapolis.
Maverick Athletics is one of the premier NCAA Division II athletic departments in the nation, and also sponsors nationally ranked Men’s and Women’s NCAA Division I ice hockey. The department has finished in the Top 10 in the Learfield Director’s Cup five times in the last ten years. Led by recent NACDA DII Athletic Director of the Year Kevin Buisman, Maverick Athletics includes 20 sports & 600 student-athletes, and is a source of local, regional and alumni pride.
Primary Duties: The Assistant Athletic Director for Development & Revenue Generation primary responsibility is to provide leadership for the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of major gifts/corporate partnerships and to develop and implement all strategic marketing, branding, and community outreach efforts for the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.
Position reports to the Vice President of University Advancement with a dotted line to the Director of Athletics. In addition, the Director will coordinate efforts between the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and the Division of University Advancement to ensure an effective and efficient working relationship in the following areas: gift receipting; cultivation and stewardship of donors and corporate sponsors; annual giving development; alumni and public relations; database management; administration of endowment scholarships and other directed gifts; development and management of an advisory board.
Supervise staff in marketing and fundraising and oversee the department’s contractual relationship with an external marketing sales firm. Participate in game and event management specific to marketing and sponsorship fulfillment. Oversee and help to coordinate special event fundraising. Assist in the development of strategies to grow and improve season, single game, and group tickets sales, along with other duties as assigned.
Required:
• Bachelor's degree.
• Three years of experience in development, marketing, fundraising, sales or athletic administration.
• Valid US Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Master’s Degree preferred.
• Experience in executing donor research as it relates to prospect development.
• Demonstrated record of success in fundraising and corporate sponsorship solicitation, preferably in an intercollegiate athletic, professional or amateur sports franchise, or sports marketing environment.
• Participation and/or working experiences at the intercollegiate or professional level.
• Knowledge and experience with corporate partnership packaging, pricing, and proposal development.
• Experience with the development and implementation of strategic marketing/sales plans.
• Knowledge or experience with a donor database management program.
• Experience with design and publishing software.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse learning and working environment.
