Bucknell University is seeking applications for an Associate Director of Athletic Communication within the Department of Athletics and Recreation. The Associate Director will assist the Director of Athletic Communications in promoting the department and its student-athletes through media relations, press releases, media guides, web site, and other print and electronic media.
The job responsibilities are not limited to, but include the following:
1. Serve as primary media/communications contact for football as well as a number of other sports.
2. Assist in the production and creation of departmental publications, including media guides, gameday programs, posters, and schedule cards.
3. Write press releases and feature stories promoting the department and its student-athletes.
4. Help foster positive relationships with local and national media; pitch story ideas on Bucknell teams and student-athletes.
5. Coordinate the daily maintenance and development of the official Bucknell Athletics website.
6. Serve as primary liaison with the University's website provider.
7. Coordinate the design and display of graphics on digital scoreboards at Sojka Pavilion and other venues.
8. Help manage press facilities at home events.
9. Coordinator the social media platform for the department and its 27 varsity athletics programs.
10. Serve as gameday coordinator for men's and women's basketball.
11. Maintain accurate statistics, records, and files for teams and student-athletes.
12. Manage all student workers in the Athletic Communications area.
13. Assist in coordination of the Senior Awards Banquet.
14. Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree
2. Four years of communications experience
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Journalism experience
Physical Demands:
1. Work involves considerable exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
2. Moderate physical activity. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.
