As the National Governing Body for the Olympic sport of Taekwondo, the purpose of USA Taekwondo (USAT) shall be to inspire United States athletes to achieve sustained competitive excellence in the sport of Taekwondo in the United States and to serve as the National Governing Body for the sport of Taekwondo under the authority of the United States Olympic Committee as set out below. Furthermore, USAT is committed to providing the necessary programs, services and support for all Taekwondo participants by providing a safe and positive environment as well as demonstrating the high athletic skill, self-discipline, humility, indomitable spirit and expression of Olympic ideals required to excel in the sport.
USAT is actively seeking an Executive Director to lead the membership, staff, and volunteers of USA Taekwondo, through implementation of programs designed to achieve the organizations’ goals. The USA Taekwondo Board of Directors delegates to the Executive Director the authority to develop and implement all operations and customer service related activities associated with the organization.
The Executive Director is ultimately responsible for all aspects of USA Taekwondo. These are comprised of two main areas:
• Programs and technical services including: Olympic Sparring, Sport Poomsa and potentially, Paralympic Taekwondo (TBD). Each responsibility area includes the development of grass-roots programs; the identification of high performing athletes, coaches, and referees; and, the creation of an environment where nationally competitive athletes, coaches, and referees are successful in international competition.
• Member support services for USA Taekwondo and recognized Affiliated Organizations. Supervising a small professional staff and volunteer-membership, the Executive Director oversees administrative, finance, communication and performance evaluation functions
