Assistant Athletic Director/ Head Field Hockey Coach Adelphi University
The Adelphi University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics has a history of success. A regional power, the Adelphi Panthers Women’s Field Hockey has played at NCAA Division II Tournament level the past 3 years, with a 94-76 record over the past nine seasons. The program went 14-6 overall and shared the regular-season conference title in 2016. To build upon this progress, we now seek a Head Field Hockey Coach who will direct all phases of the management and administration of the field hockey program.
We seek a strong, competitive leader who will be responsible for the recruitment and retention of quality student-athletes, associated recommendations for athletic financial aid and scholarship recommendations, and be responsible for knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations as well as enforcing all policies, procedures and guidelines of the University and the athletics department. In this hands on role, you will be responsible for all areas of the sport’s budget including, recruiting, travel, and equipment as well as coordinating scheduling with the sport administrator and conducting regular practice sessions as allowed by the NCAA and University guidelines. We seek an experienced coach and teacher who utilizes sound teaching techniques in the preparation of games and practices and who will oversee the conditioning and training of the student-athletes in conjunction with the sports medicine staff.
Responsibilities will also include alumni outreach and fundraising initiatives (events, individual outreach) with the AD and sport administrator, as well as motivating student-athletes to perform at their best.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree, with 2 - 5 years of experience coaching at the college level and fund raising experience preferred. Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to prioritize workload, ability to supervise students and employees plus knowledge of MSWord required. Some night and weekend work required.
