The University of Iowa Department of Intercollegiate Athletics seeks applications for Director of Player Development—Football. The University of Iowa is a NCAA Division I Power 5 institution and a member of the Big Ten Conference.
Responsibilities: The primary functions of this position include serve as academic liaison with the Office of Athletics Student Services; develop and implement a progressive life skills program in conjunction with Athletics Student Services; assist with orientation, admissions and housing process in conjunction with Athletics Student Services; assist with on-campus recruiting and the on-campus assessment of prospective student-athletes; assist in the acclimatization of first-year and transfer student-athletes to local living environment; manage and develop community outreach efforts; improve and expand mentoring program; serve as liaison with football alumni and NFL players; represent the program at professional, civic, charitable and alumni events as requested; collaborate with coaches and administrative staff within the intercollegiate athletics program to enhance overall departmental operations; other duties assigned by the head football coach and/or Associate Director of Athletics for Academic Student Services.

Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Some experience (6 months – 1 year) working directly with a high profile NCAA Division I sports team with under-represented populations, such as football or basketball, in an academic or other organized counseling setting.
• Demonstrated working knowledge and ability to:
• Work constructively and collaboratively with individuals of diverse backgrounds;
◦ Utilize basic office productivity software (similar to Microsoft Office 365) and online database systems, such as JumpForward, ACS Athletics, Teamworks or Grades First (please specify);
◦ Utilize outstanding oral, written and electronic communications skills as demonstrated through effective and creative presentation/training delivery; public speaking engagements; development of creative promotional or educational communications; and delivery of complex and sensitive information.
• Effectively collaborate with a student services operation that supports student-athletes’ educational experiences and retention.
Preferred Qualifications:
• One to three years of experience working directly with a Power Five football program
• Demonstrated working knowledge and ability to:
◦ Assist with the development and delivery of effective life skills programming;
◦ Collaborate with campus partners and alumni to create and promote career development opportunities for student-athletes.
◦ Develop and oversee external outreach projects and networking, including community service and alumni relations;
• Demonstrated ability to build collaborative partnerships and maintain productive, sustained relationships with clients, patrons, and associates.
Terms of Employment:This is a 100% time, regular position with full University of Iowa benefits. Salary range is $50,000 - $65,000.
