Description
• Responsible for the architectural rendering and final approval of all store layouts and elements
• Build strong cross-functional relationships with key leaders to leverage all selling channels through the store initiatives
• Provide strategic design direction across design functions creating a holistic environment for consumers that align with the Brand
• Lead and collaborate on design integration for all innovation development projects/programs as well as pilot stores
• Responsible for the training and development of all Store Design team members
• Research and integrate conceptual store environments
• Manage projects and lead the implementation of new store design elements
• Develop and maintain brand guidelines and documentation for core footprint – fixture specs and colors, décor elements, floor plan and layouts
• Partner with Planning Department to ensure current plan-o-grams are maintained on any store prototype documents
• Concept, cost and deliver options to business stakeholders for new store design elements, and fixture options
• Develop, implement and maintain digital content and interactive strategy within the store environment which includes, but is not limited to, sidekicks and endcaps
• Ensure continuity throughout the departments on core design elements
• Partner with Marketing Creative Department for design and production of all store décor and permanent signage programs
• Partner with merchants and operations to ensure all major resets are executing on time and within budget
• Work with merchants and business leaders to transform requests into in-store reality through design, value engineering and cost benefit
• Maintain open communication with all business partners
• Assume a leadership role on timely execution of initiatives
• Seek to understand all points of view and works through any conflicts to negotiate outcomes that support objectives and serve the customer
• Set over-all team direction for value engineering and over-all costs against company criteria and benefits
• Set and create prototype, new concept, project initiatives and specific customized store layouts
• Provide competitive insights and best practices on store format innovation
• Provide direction to team, vendors, procurement and legal for contracts and liabilities of design related programs and equipment
• Provide direction on training, integration, design principles and standards and design process and methodology
• Establish process, procedures and policies that support the work and maximize efficiency and productivity
• Utilize all performance management tools for on-going development, engagement and retention of all team members
• Establish and maintain on-going recruiting relationships in the market to source future candidates
• Develop a thorough understanding of Academy’s policies, procedures and safety rules

Qualifications
• High School diploma or equivalent required
• Bachelor’s Degree in Design or relevant field if study preferred
• 10+ years of experience managing direct reports in a design function environment
• Leading the creation of graphics presentations, display presentations, store layout and environment presentations
• Interactive AN/UI design, and/or related design development
• Retail experience, specifically with concept development, creative collaboration with internal and external specialists like store operations, merchandising, marketing, finance and property development
• Knowledge in development of site plans, building plans, preliminary layouts, fixture plans, construction documents and specifications
• Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills to interface effectively with individuals at various levels
• Ability to work well under pressure while consistently meeting time sensitive deadlines
• Analytical with strong problem-solving abilities and creative resolution skills
• Ability to remain organized, pay attention to detail, and meet critical deadlines
• Ability to work well independently, as well as effectively contribute to a team environment
• Ability to prioritize workload, meet multiple deadlines simultaneously in a fast paced, frequently changing environment
• Strong Microsoft office program experience including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, Photoshop, working knowledge of AutoCad, Revit and 3DS Max
• Acceptable level of hearing and vision to perform job duties
