The University of South Carolina Aiken, an NCAA Division II Institution, is seeking a Director of Athletics. This position reports to the Vice Chancellor for Student Life and Services with dotted line reporting to the Chancellor and is responsible for developing and supervising an athletic program guided by the University’s Mission Statement and Strategic Plan. The Athletic Director oversees an eleven sport department that is a member of the highly competitive Peach Belt Conference (PBC). Sports include men’s and women’s soccer, women’s cross country, volleyball, men’s and women’s basketball, baseball, men’s golf, softball and men’s and women’s tennis. The Athletic Director also oversees the Athletic Training Program, Sports information Office and University Spirit Groups. The Athletic Director works in close collaboration with relevant university offices.
The successful candidate will conduct the athletics program in compliance with USC Aiken, Peach Belt Conference and NCAA rules and regulations. Specific job categories include (1) Policy Making, Interpretation and Enforcement; (2) Program Leadership and Development; (3) Financial Management and Fundraising; (4) General Administration; and (5) Staff Leadership.
This is a 12.0 month full-time position. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Application deadline is January 22, 2017. USCA is an AA / EOE. Minorities and women are encouraged to apply.
A minimum of a Master’s Degree and five years of collegiate athletic administrative experience is required. Coaching experience is strongly preferred. Demonstrated effective leadership, administrative and management skills in a collegiate athletic setting; knowledge and experience in revenue enhancement activities; demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills; demonstrated commitment to gender equity, diversity, and affirmative action; professional and personal integrity; and commitment to excellence are required. Must hold a valid driver’s license.
