Mercer Athletics is looking for a creative and innovative leader to head the department’s efforts in graphic design, digital and social media strategy, and content creation/editing.
The Director of Creative Services will serve as the lead researcher on digital and social strategy and best practices and work with Media Relations, Video Production, and Marketing staffs on strategic plans for sport-specific social media accounts; setting measurable goals and tracking set metrics. Will prepare designs, artwork and other visuals in support of client needs and consistent with design standards, planning and creating designs for the communication of information to various external and internal constituencies. Stay current on graphics trends and techniques to the sports design industry, and learn and incorporate them at Mercer University. Responsible for designing promotional materials such as posters, schedule cards, brochures and multiple advertising mediums used by Mercer Athletics. The Director of Athletic Creative services will also lead efforts on all Daktronics electronic media hardware, including court-side LED signage and video boards. Additionally, the incumbent will be the main point of contact for all graphic design efforts within the department.
The Director of Creative Services is required to comply fully with all NCAA, Southern Conference and Mercer University rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
Education Requirements:
• Bachelor's Degree required.
• Preferred Field of Study: Graphic arts/design, media studies, marketing or related field.
Software skills required:
• Adobe Creative Suite (Including but not limited to Photoshop, After Effects, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere, Etc.)
• Social media platforms (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, etc.)
• An understanding of intercollegiate athletics
Experience and other skills required:
• One year of marketing, promotions, or public relations experience in intercollegiate athletics.
• Demonstrated graphic design experience.
• Strong verbal and written communications skills.
• Experience with developing marketing plans.
Other skills preferred:
• Three years of marketing, promotions, or public relations experience in intercollegiate athletics.
• Supervisory and budget management experience.
• Experience formulating and/or managing social media initiatives
