The University of Houston in Houston, TX, has a full-time opportunity in the Athletic Department for an experienced video production professional. Selected candidate will develop, implement, and manage a large athletics function/program. Candidate will be responsible for managing the budget and engaging in strategic planning, grant oversight, and policy development to ensure all goals are met; hire and direct staff; implement new programs and projects and monitor ongoing activities of department/center; and represent the department/center to both internal and external constituents.
Job duties/responsibilities:
• Responsible for the direction and production of multimedia content that connects University of Houston student-athletes, coaches and administrators to its external constituents.
• Produce, edit and write to create content for game day and digital platform productions. Filming Athletics community and operations events on and off-site. Assist in the creative and storyboarding of productions.
• Produce exceptional content and programming including: concept design, writing, art and sound design.
• Football game day responsibilities include operating the Master Control Room and oversight of filming and producing of segments and features.
• Manage game day operations, including the production of video broadcasts and video content, for all other sports.
• Responsible for visual needs of various departments throughout the Athletics Department including occasional events off site.
• Responsible for the production of coaches shows through a partnership with the Valenti School of Communications.
• Responsible for the hiring and staffing of all game day positions.
• Responsible for all live events streaming on UHCougars.com and serve as a liaison to CBS Interactive for streaming operations.
• Serve as contact for broadcast media and other external entities for video footage and content; responsible for maintaining the Houston Athletics video archives.
• Manage the procurement, inventory and maintenance of all video hardware and develop long range upgrade schedules to meet budget constraints.
The ideal candidate will possess the following essential functions:
• Must be able to operate a Non-Linear Editing System – Adobe Premiere
• Must be able to use Production Cameras
• Must be able to create Motion Graphics
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and meet and exceed deadlines
• Possess creativity to add to production, programming and storyboarding
• Working knowledge of lighting
• Working technical knowledge in the field
• Working knowledge in a Master Control Room
Job Requirements
• Requires a directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed.
• Requires a minimum of five (5) years of directly job-related experience.
