Associate Director of the Academic Tutoring and Training Information Center (ATTIC)/ Coordinator of Academic Support for Student Athletes
The Associate Director/Coordinator of Academic Support for Student Athletes is responsible for the daily management of the ATTIC’s operations and plays a key leadership role in delivering quality academic support and advising programs to student athletes. This position serves as an important liaison between the Athletics Department and the Academic Division and is ultimately responsible for ensuring compliance with NCAA eligibility requirements as they relate to student athlete academic performance. This is a full-time, 12 month administrative position with significant direct service responsibilities to students.
Responsibilities Related to ATTIC Leadership
• Provide overall supervision, support, and management of the ATTIC’s daily operations with specific focus on student athlete programming
• Monitor use of ATTIC resources
• Serve as a source of supervision, support, and development for members of the ATTIC staff
• Assist with the coordination of the college-wide Peer Tutoring, Supplemental Instruction, and PARDner peer mentor Programs
• Assist with the assessment of ATTIC services
Responsibilities Related to Support of Student Athletes
• Serve as the primary liaison between the Academic Division and the Department of Athletics
• Serve as the primary source of academic counseling/coaching and advocacy to student athletes
• Coordinate distribution of progress reports and maintain communication with faculty in an effort to monitor student athlete academic progress
• Provide overall leadership and direction for the Structured Study Program
• Continually assess the efficacy of student athlete support programming and report student outcomes
• Work with coaching staff as they recruit prospective student athletes
Required Qualifications
• A minimum of a bachelor’s degree and prior experience advising student athletes
• Experience working with diverse populations
• Knowledge of and experience in coordinating academic support programs (i.e. Peer Tutoring, Supplemental Instruction)
• Fluent technical skills (Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook/email management, advising software, survey tools, etc.)
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to work autonomously, set priorities, and meet deadlines
• Ability to make leadership decisions
• High level of confidentiality
Preferred Qualifications
• Master’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, Education, or related field
• Experience working at a private, selective, residential liberal arts college
• Experience leading a team of professionals
• Knowledge of/experience with NCAA eligibility requirements
