Responsibilities:
Leads Knicks / Westchester Knicks marketing within MSG and is accountable for the development and implementation of marketing strategies for NY Knicks and Westchester Knicks. Acts as the ‘front door’ to the marketing department for Knicks / Westchester Knicks marketing, ticket sales and partnerships activity. In a matrix organization, the post holder will need to work seamlessly with many different teams to successfully achieve their goals, so interpersonal and influencing skills are vital.
Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement fan driven marketing strategies and budgets for both teams which meet the goals the Sports P&L.
• Orchestrate and organize the involvement of the marketing COEs (Insights and Analytics, Media, Creative, Digital) to ensure that they are being used effectively for Knicks / Westchester Knicks and deliver against our strategies.
• Champion the voice of the fan across all of our marketing and ensure that we are delivering on our ‘fan first’ strategy at every brand touchpoint including communications, event presentation, in-arena experience, digital, loyalty communications etc.
• Work closely with the Ticket Sales team to align marketing and sales strategies. Ensure that we have robust ticket marketing plans in place and that we can respond quickly to ticket sales opportunities for both individuals and groups.
• Ensure close integration with the Marketing Partnerships group. Develop platforms for our key marketing partners and collaborate on joint initiatives that extend our team brands and drive revenue.
• Establish and manage clear processes to enable us to be nimble and efficient in the way we execute Knicks / Westchester Knicks marketing.
• Manage, motivate and develop the Knicks / Westchester Knicks marketing team. Create a culture of innovation where great ideas can come from anywhere and we are testing and learning.
Qualifications:
Key skills / requirements:
• A passion for Basketball!
• 10 + years’ experience in marketing planning and execution. Strong understanding of all of the elements involved in marketing execution – insights, strategy, media, creative, digital.
• Significant account management / stakeholder management experience. Strong ability to understand business challenges and provide strategic guidance to non-marketing partners/stakeholders. A client focused mentality is key and a passion to solve business problems for clients.
• Strong planning skills. Ability to set out a strategic plan and achieve buy in.
• Project management skills – ability to create implementation plans involving multiple parts of the marketing organization and deliver projects / campaigns on time and on budget.
• Excellent understanding of the consumer journey and how to deliver a consistent brand experience.
• Ability to generate ideas and strategies to solve business problems. Track record in digital direct response marketing is an advantage.
• Creative thinker and ideas person with an ability to create non-traditional, scrappy, disruptive marketing initiatives.
• Passionately fan focused and able to rally disparate teams around a single vision.
• Ability to articulate and lead in a fast-paced, intense and highly-matrixed environment
• Resiliency and a real can-do attitude
• Excellent team player with the ability to assess priorities and maintain composure and diplomacy at all times.
• Highly organized individual who can manage planning and meeting deadlines effectively
• Candidate must also demonstrate initiative, resourcefulness, and an ability to manage multiple assignments under tight deadlines
• At least 5 years management experience. Track record of building and leading small, agile teams.
