OVERVIEW:
The Materials Management Director oversees the planning and materials management function at our plants. The Materials Management Director utilizes McCormick's High Performance System and Continuous Improvement methodologies to position the plant's human and capital resources for long term success by ensuring effective and reliable processes and services. Provides strategic leadership and direction for multiple teams across the America's plant network. As an America's Supply Chain Leadership Team member, works with other functional leaders to develop organizational planning, strategic direction setting and goal setting for the Plants. Is responsible to develop a culture of continuous improvement through process improvement and enhancing employee skills and capabilities.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Directly responsible for the management of the Plant Planning/Scheduling, Warehouse (depending on facility), Material Planning and Cycle Counting teams.
• Ensure accurate control of all inventories flowing into, through, and out of the plants, as applicable (Raw Materials, Inter plant moves, WIP, Finished goods).
• Lead the Planning/Scheduling teams with the proper use and application of the SAP.
• Work as part of the America's Supply Chain Leadership Team team to deliver efficient, safe products at established customer service and conversion costs targets.
• Identifies, prioritzes, plans, and directs the execution of strategies for assigned areas.
• Designs strategies, procedures, and people utilization for improving reliability of processes, efficiency, productivity, and performance while reducing inventory and waste while maintaining product quality and operating expenses for assigned areas.
• Act as an advisor to the Supply Chain Pillar in TPM, guiding the plants to make the pillar routes part of every day work processes and driving continuous improvement of our KPI's.
• Drives strategies and processes across the network that optimize our network capacity utilization. This includes network optimization studies, and execution of strategic production moves across facilities. This role is a key contributor to the Business Continuity Planning process and Integrated Business Planning process.
• Create a high performing organization to ensure that the Materials Management team understands the goals and objective of the business and that they have the resources and support to accomplish them. Provide an environment which ensures and provides for open and healthy communications. This includes development planning and career progression for each member on the team. Succession plans should span across Make/Source/Plan/Deliver and across our multiple facilities.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor's Degree in relevant field
• Minimum of 8-10 years functional/leadership experience
• Demonstrated significant and relevant skills and results in functional area
• Strong leadership experience with demonstrated success in managing multiple projects and people
• Proficient knowledge of ERP systems
• Knowledge/experience of industry best practices in production planning, manufacturing, distribution, and procurement
• Inventory Management Experience
• Strong communication and diplomacy skills are required to guide and influence others. Strong cross-functional strategic leadership, communication, and teamwork skills. Ability to translate strategy into actionable information in small or large groups in a clear, concise, and professional manner. Ability to influence upwards.
