Position Description
Oversees the execution of projects by defining project deliverables; approving and implementing capital resource needs; developing and executing scopes, schedules, and budgets; developing project strategies, timelines, and plans; directing efficient resource utilization, recruitment, and engagement of external consultants; and establishing and directing projects on time and on budget.
Partners in the development of business strategy and project plans for new format projects by working closely with real estate leaders and key stakeholders to improve and develop new format ideas and project scope; partnering with stakeholders to determine key performance indicators ; providing guidance to team on overall new format strategy; collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to streamline processes that increase speed to market and control costs; communicating feedback to key stakeholders on critical elements ; and ensuring that new technology and formats are consistent with strategy.
Oversees new format financial models and analysis by collaborating with key stakeholders to track trends in current and past performance of stores; leading a cross-functional team of subject matter experts to design and approve projects through the Realty executive committee process; minimizing program change costs through performance, governance, and oversight ; partnering with key stakeholders to develop new format financial models; driving total capital expenditures for strategic new format projects; establishing strategic development processes to control program objectives, cost, and timelines; monitoring financial performance for new format projects; and identifying trends and project gaps.
Oversees business plans and competitor strategies by working with cross-functional teams to evaluate and improve existing and future markets and programs; working with consultants to learn details, tactics, and overall strategy of other retail providers; reviewing media and industry reports related to competitors on a regular basis; consolidating information into a report; and presenting information to business partners.
Identifies format opportunities in the development of the business case for new format projects by conducting market analysis and identifying demographic targets; reviewing results of consumer research; leading a cross-functional team of subject matter experts across the company to identify opportunities and risks; influencing and working strategically with an executive steering committee on new format projects and decisions; presenting the business case to the executive committee; and informing the board of directors to seek buy-in and approval.
Provides overall direction by analyzing business objectives and customer needs; developing, communicating, building support for, and implementing business strategies, plans, and practices; analyzing costs and forecasts and incorporating them into business plans; determining and supporting resource requirements; evaluating operational processes; measuring outcomes to ensure desired results; identifying and capitalizing on improvement opportunities; promoting a customer environment; and demonstrating adaptability and sponsoring continuous learning.
Develops and implements strategies to attract and maintain a highly skilled and engaged workforce by diagnosing capability gaps; recruiting, selecting, and developing talent; supporting mentorship, workforce development, and succession planning; and leveraging the capabilities of new and existing talent.
Cultivates an environment where associates respect and adhere to company standards of integrity and ethics by integrating these values into all programs and practices; developing consequences for violations or non-compliance; and supporting the Open Door Policy.
Develops and leverages internal and external partnerships and networks to maximize the achievement of business goals by sponsoring and leading key community outreach and involvement
Additional Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or related field and 6 years’ experience in business strategy, real estate research, financial analysis, or related area OR 8 years’ experience in business strategy, real estate research, financial analysis, or related area.
2 years’ supervisory experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or related field.
4 years’ Walmart experience in Real Estate, Finance, or Operations.
3 years’ experience in new format development or related area.
