Job Description

As the Director of Marketing Operations at Publix, you’ll play a key role in marketing strategy and implementation, and ensuring a collaborative, engaging, and dynamic workplace where good things happen.
The Director of Marketing Operations plans, develops, implements, and handles the ongoing management of integrated operational practices across all sub-departments in Marketing. This includes processes and procedures, collection and analysis of related metrics, supporting technology, organizational planning, and budgetary administration. By applying marketing operational expertise, Publix will successfully engage customers to drive revenue, improve profit, and enhance brand reputation across seven US states, five geographical divisions, and more than 1,180 retail locations.
In addition to contributing to the development and maintenance of overall marketing strategies and executional planning, the Director of Marketing Operations leads a cross-functional annual planning process to establish evolving marketing priorities and organizes them into a detailed plan for implementation.
Additional responsibilities include:
• monitoring change management and on-going oversight and refinement of Marketing operational systems and processes
• leading a cross-functional annual planning process which yields marketing communications priorities organized into a detailed plan for implementation
• contributing to the development and maintenance of overall marketing strategies and executional planning. The Director, Marketing Operations is one of four Marketing Directors routinely involved in this process with the Vice President of Marketing
• cultivating expertise in business and process management to enable the Marketing department to efficiently develop and produce marketing solutions that will optimize sales and profits for the entire Publix Corporation
• managing the development and direction of resources that impact the operating and print production budgets for the Marketing department; and for collaborating with the Vice President of Marketing and other Marketing Directors to define the financial budget for the entire Marketing organization
• developing and managing operational resources to ensure cost-effective and time-effective development, management and production of marketing work
• directing and continually evaluating resource requirements for Marketing Operations team; and for collaborating with other Marketing Directors to define roles, responsibilities and resource requirements for entire Marketing organization
• overseeing ongoing evaluation of technology requirements and for oversight of Marketing-specific hardware and software implementation/management to ensure Marketing team efficiency
• developing Marketing Operations associates’ skills, on-going training and development, and performance assessment. Ensures that all Marketing associates and relevant suppliers are sufficiently competent on the common tools and processes that enable the day to day operations of the department and the maintenance of brand standards. Leads the Vice President of Marketing and other Marketing Directors through a collaborative assessment of all Marketing associates
• dedicating time to Marketing innovation and quality improvement
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in business management, marketing or communications, or equivalent experience
• at least seven (7) years of experience in marketing management, or equivalent experience and
• at least two (2) years of experience in a supervisory management or leadership position with direct reports
• expert knowledge of current marketing operations best practices
• expert knowledge of business and marketing strategy development processes, timing, and required input
• expert knowledge of marketing planning principles, processes, tools, and techniques for developing marketing communications plans
• strong knowledge of budgetary management, metrics and reporting

Preferred Qualifications
• MBA in business management
• seven (7) or more years of experience in operational management within a marketing or advertising department
• seven (7) or more years of experience in a supervisory management or leadership position with direct reports
• Meeting facilitation certification (i.e., BPM Council)
• Six Sigma Certification
• PMI Certification
• knowledge of the food industry, retail operations, general business, competition, and consumer trends in order to provide expert input on projects and strategic initiatives
• knowledge of Publix and its organizational structure
• general knowledge of Quality Decision Process (QDP) tools
Year End Bonus
One month’s pay (pro-rated in the first year) if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check.
