General Responsibilities
The VP of Connected Services Partnerships will define and set the enterprise strategy through the execution of Connected cars and innovation initiatives that will deliver incremental value to the business through global partnerships. Connected Services Partnerships will be responsible for discovering, leading and partnering with internal and external stakeholders to identify growth opportunities for Hertz in connected car platforms. This position will keep abreast of emerging trends including new players and business models and stay informed on new technologies that can be leveraged at Hertz.
Key Results Areas:
• Partner with the Executive Steering committee, Operations, Information Technology and Marketing teams to identify new Connected business initiatives, driving key strategic issues and ensuring new partnerships and innovations are consistent with overall Hertz growth plans.
• Providing support and leadership in areas of Connected strategy, analysis and emerging best practices and coordinate with executive management for selection and prioritization of initiatives
• Serve as a leader and facilitator in identifying and developing a strategy which drives Hertz’s competitive position as a leader in Connected Partnerships
• Drive growth across the company portfolio by developing and implementing Connected Partnership strategies to deliver “break-through” business models and innovation to the core business
• Identify growth and business model alternatives leveraging partnerships and new technologies to deliver value creation, operations improvement and cost savings opportunities
• Develop and maintain relationships with industry players for potential partnership opportunities
• Build and implement strategic alignment between company and external alliances; driving go-to market programs, business solution development, and technical alignment
• Utilize knowledge of the partner’s propositions, their markets, business challenges and customer opportunities; ensure partner account of the vision, strategies and capabilities of the alliance
• Provide feedback to the partners if needed; develops and executes attainable and strategy plans with the market needs
• Produce high-quality leads on opportunities through constant engagements with partners in terms of business and marketing strategies
• Develop and maintain a knowledge repository of relevant business intelligence in emerging Connected and rental car landscape to inform partnerships and innovation activities and to keep internal stakeholders informed
• Collaborate with Corporate Development / M&A due diligence, valuation and business integration for potential equity investments in strategic partnerships
• Lead development of an Innovation platform center of excellence that will be used to drive strategic initiatives. Program manage projects which will deliver innovation. Provide support and leadership in the areas of insights, strategy, analysis and best practices
• Build Connected Car Sub Coe
◦ Hire staff – Determine qualifications, select target recruitment audiences, coordinate with HR to organize and execute the hiring process.
◦ Develop staff – Provide formal and informal (peer-to-peer) learning opportunities to equip staff with the necessary understanding of the car rental business fundamentals, the tools and the processes we use.
◦ Develop processes – Continuously improve how the department functions internally and with other departments. Improve existing processes, change the set of processes we utilize to make decisions.
◦ Develop tools – Constantly seek to improve all areas with new tools, from spreadsheet to core programming.
◦ Design functional and operational model (Build business model)
• Global collaboration – Act as a central key contact for all Connected Partnership opportunities.
◦ Work closely with Global Leadership and key stakeholders on worldwide initiatives.
◦ Act as principal contact point and relationship leader to all COE’s.
◦ Collaborate closely with the Global franchisee team, their key franchisees to extend work into new franchise revenue streams.
◦ Build lasting relationships with key political agencies within the EMEA region to benefit the Hertz Corporation.
◦ Be the first point of contact for connected services and new product initiatives.
◦ Act as a relationship leader to aggressively develop and execute strategic revenue growth initiatives through increased integration with COE” s globally, including Marketing partners, Corporate Sales.
• Develop reporting – Design and implement reports that provide actionable insights into effectiveness of actions and guide forward decisions. Develops new product & service concepts, business cases for exec team approval and works with all functions to bring to pilot / operational standard.
• Provide direction – Make informed decisions to prioritize tasks for staff, ensure tasks are executed on time and with required level of sophistication and rigor.
• Manage performance -- Establish metrics for performance, aggressively communicate them and drive performance towards improving those metrics.
Mandatory Requirements
Educational Background:
• Four-year college degree. Advanced degree is desirable in Marketing, Business Administration, or another related field.
Knowledge & Skills:
• 10+ years of experience within a disruptive transportation development environment
• Experience in client relationship management, identifying opportunities up to C-Level.
• Ability to respond creatively, quickly and effectively to partners’ needs and requests
• Ability to negotiate and concisely communicate both in writing and verbally, complex concepts/business issues to clients, Consultants and COE
• Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities/projects and develop business relationships
• Cultural sensitivity and awareness of behavioural effectiveness in a multi-national environment
• Demonstrable experience in large scale negotiations and multi-level relationship management
• Understanding of and interest in global politics, macro-economies, social structures
• Sound financial and commercial acumen
• Strong ability to construct and effectively communicate simple, compelling and sustainable partner propositions.
• Understanding of the key regions within the area of responsibility, their economic and commercial drivers
• Logical thinker that designs and follows efficient workflows & processes
