Overview
The Director Quality Assurance is responsible for establishing and maintaining a corporate quality assurance system and team that promotes customer satisfaction that positively impacts the financial performance of the company. They will direct processes and procedures both overseas and domestically to ensure products comply with established quality standards. The Director will work with key stakeholders to educate and train to deliver products that meet or exceed standards and conform to approved samples. They will keep up to date on quality standards and identify changes needed to support the business, as well as, establish and manage packaging standards to ensure efficient, cost effective and environmental friendly materials are utilized.
Duties & Responsibilities
• Develop, implement and direct global quality assurance program guidelines and expected results through product evaluation and requirements with key stakeholders. Establish/update QA standards as needed to adapt to changing business needs. Set performance expectations for vendor and agent network and develop recommendations for continual improvement in support of driving quality performance and reducing margin erosion. Provide management reporting that clearly identifies key results, areas of opportunity and action plans to achieve improved performance.
• Educate, train and mentor team associates to provide role clarity and performance requirements. Work closely with QA Manager and DC Leadership to support business objectives. Participate as needed in new business initiatives up to and including system projects, new product launches and changes to sourcing direction.
• Collaborate regularly with key stakeholders to establish and improve quality expectations and specifications for an ever-changing product assortment. Direct root-cause analysis and other problem solving activities to identify effective corrective actions and process improvements. Provide analysis and recommendations related to inspection results, trends, and store/customer concerns to business partners and communicate action plan for change.
• Direct projects that require corrective actions, product destruction or regulatory product holds. Oversee relationship with third-party rework/destruction providers as needed. Ensure that ongoing performance metrics, statistics and project updates are reported and reviewed to support workload management and reporting to business partners. Monitor project costs and deadlines to ensure charge-backs and claims are filed timely to aid in collection.
Education & Experience
• Bachelor's Degree required
• 10+ years applicable experience
• Direct experience with AQL and/or ISO standards for quality assurance, as well as knowledge of federal and state laws concerning product safety & compliance
• Understanding of industry best practices in the area of quality/safety/compliance management
• Deep understanding of supply chain, warehousing, and distribution in a retail environment
• Previous leadership role in QA, time spent working overseas
• Lean certification a plus as well as Certified Quality Inspector
• Ability to travel up to 35% domestic and international
