Position Description:
POSITION PURPOSE
The Director, National Accounts provides direction and guidance to an outside sales team in all aspects of professional sales at a regional and national level. Builds strong relationships and possesses an understanding of the large, strategic Pro customer needs with a focus on fulfilling project, credit and performance requirements. Drives compelling Pro performance in terms of growth, profitability, store and market penetration. Educates customers on the services and products offered by The Home Depot and develops applicable Pro Programs. Helps team identify key opportunities and strategies for programs and customers.
MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
30%- Identify localized sales growth opportunities in division and regions thru the outside sales team. Uses marketing data to maximize sales effectiveness and efficiency through relevant sales management tools. Identify key opportunities and strategies for individual customers
30%- Develop new national account and national affiliation programs across the country.
20%- Teach, coach and train associates to ensure achievement of high level of customer service achieved through the use of Pro programs and merchandising strategies.
10%- Serve as liaison to Atlanta SSC to implement enterprise-wide initiatives and escalate new sales opportunities to
support team.
10%- Tasks related to sales and marketing reports and driving team performance.
NATURE AND SCOPE
Position reports to VP of Pro
Number of Direct Reports: 10+
ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
Environment:
Typically located in a comfortable indoor area. There may be regular exposure to mild physical discomfort from factors such as dust, fumes or odors, temperature extremes, loud noise, strong drafts, or bright lights.
Travel:
Typically requires overnight travel more than 50% of the time.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
Education Required:
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.
Years of Relevant Work Experience:5 years
Physical Requirements:
Frequent periods are spent standing or sitting in the same location with some opportunity to move about; occasionally there may be a need to stoop or lift light objects (typically less than 8 pounds).
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in contract negotiations
• Strong leadership and negotiation skills; ability to influence others
• Ability to leverage relationships both inside and outside the organization.
