Position Summary
CVS is seeking a new Director to join a new team that has been tasked with developing an industry-leading assortment optimization process – Category Factory. This role will be instrumental in design and structure of the process in order to drive meaningful financial impact for the company. Category Factory will leverage best-in-class transferable demand tools as part of category strategies covering shopper insights, assortment, price, promotion and vendor negotiation plans.
This position is the center of a cross-functional team of Category Managers and Assortment Center of Excellence developing strategy, design and approach. You will influence & lead the Merchandising team throughout the journey.
In this role, you should be a creative, out-of-the-box thinker who is intellectually curious with a proven interest in learning. Additionally, you are ambitious, entrepreneurial, with high-energy who can easily function in a high demand, performance-driven environment. You will be accustomed to working on multiple tasks in parallel and be able to demonstrate cross functional engagement, best demonstrated by the individual’s ability to gain credibility with cross-functional partners and senior management.
The position is expected to provide excellent exposure to management across CVS’s business as well as ongoing professional development. This role would suit someone with a strong interest in retail and a passion for merchandise planning.
Required Qualifications
5 or more years in an analytical, buying and/or merchandising role.
Preferred Qualifications
• Assortment optimization and/or and category review experience a plus
• Ambitious, high energy individual who can function in a high demand environment managing tight deadlines.
• Ability to recognize problems, develop an organized approach to determining solutions.
• Ability to influence across all levels of the organization, from cross-functional teams to senior leadership.
• Ability to communicate effectively and succinctly, both verbally and in writing via Microsoft PowerPoint to all levels of the organization.
• High proficiency in Excel

BA; MBA preferred
