Description
Responsible for the corporate internal communications program, developing and implementing internal projects that support the company’s strategic priorities, business initiatives, mission, vision, and values. Creates CEO/executive communications, associate communications, training and educational programs, and marketing materials that advance business goals and reinforce company messages. Provides writing and editorial support for external communications (annual reports, public relations, Web, etc.). Develops content tailored for numerous audiences and communications channels (print, online, video, and multimedia).
1. Directs, develops, and oversees communications projects and campaigns that effectively describe and promote the organization to internal audiences. Creates and manages the editorial direction of the company’s CEO/executive communications, company newsletters, corporate training videos, brochures, fliers, presentations, posters, program roll-outs, and monthly store operations programs.
2. Produces various marketing collateral materials for external audiences as needed, including annual reports, press releases, advertisements, brochures, and Web content.
3. Leads and directs the work of creative teams in implementing effective company communications.
4. Ensures consistent corporate messaging and brand identity in all writing and content development.
5. Works closely with the CEO to prepare presentations for PR initiatives, industry pitches, and internal audiences.
6. Manages and supervises outside vendors, including graphic designers, printers, and other service providers.
7. Develops and maintains relationships with key internal contacts and departments.
8. Acts as an internal communications expert, advising a broad range of internal constituents (including executives, department leaders, and associates) on the most effective methods of achieving their communications goals; assists in writing and developing communications programs supporting identified goals.
9. Develops and effectively manages the internal communications budget.
10. Manages direct reports, including day-to-day activities, staffing, training, development, performance assessment, and disciplinary actions.
11. Oversees execution of an editorial/content generation process and schedule for electronic communications, including the company intranet.
Qualifications
1. Bachelor's degree in journalism/communications required; Master’s degree preferred.
2. Minimum of seven years communications experience in corporate/large organizational settings required. Some agency background preferred.
3. Skilled in the principles of journalism, including news gathering, interviewing, writing, and editing required.
4. Knowledge in a variety of communications and internal/external marketing channels — from print and public relations to direct mail, video, and online formats required.
5. Strong project management skills and ability to develop effective relationships with peers, company leaders, and external partners required.
6. Considerable experience in planning, directing, and implementing complex projects required.
7. Highly detailed and team oriented; strong organizational and time management skills required.
8. Knowledge of the company’s culture, business, strategic direction, and audiences.
