Position Description:
POSITION PURPOSE
Director of Engineering will lead a group of passionate, talented engineers and partner with Product & Data Science teams to build tools that make business actions simple even from large data sets. BlackLocus’s data mining and machine learning pipeline, as well as user-facing applications, are built primarily in Java, Python, Go, and JavaScript. Our services and tools are entirely cloud-deployed. This role reports directly to the GM of BlackLocus.
Responsibilities
• 25% Manage, coach, and mentor a team of 20+ software engineers and managers that continues to grow rapidly
• 20% Lead engineering recruiting efforts and scale the team with proper roles and structure
• 10% Scale the team operations and drive efficiency with effective change management
• 10% Be the voice of engineering at BlackLocus and the broader Home Depot organization
• 20% Partner with leaders of product, data science, and support teams, and drive together cross-functional collaboration, such as resource prioritization, roadmap delivery, balancing short-term and long-term needs, operations alignment across teams
• 10% Foster relationships with Home Depot technology leaders and teams, and ensure compliance with security protocol
• 5% Manage internal IT needs (laptops, network, cloud, work apps, conference room equipment, etc.) across the office, and enable all teams with the right technology
Requirements
• 6+ years in managing engineering teams, including recruiting, hiring, onboarding, process refinement to professional development and coaching
• Experience building applications using open source technologies
• Experience leading strategy and aligning with cross functional teams on overall business objectives and goals
• Effective, collaborative leadership skills and strong communication skills
• Travel less than 10%
ESSENTIAL SKILLS:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

• Ability to communicate to a wide variety of audiences, both business and technical
• Strong people and project management skills, including strong process orientation, ability to work and lead cross functional teams, strategic thinking and creative problem solving skills.
• Ability to establish priorities and procedures for accomplishing work within established deadlines; ability to lead multiple projects and manage toward deadlines and deliverables
• Strong communication skills both written and verbal
