GENERAL PURPOSE:
The Vice President of Allocation Strategy is a unique role that is responsible for evaluating and defining near-term and long term-objectives and supporting business processes in the Allocation Department for Ross and dd’s. Allocation is a critical intersection between merchandising and the supply chain, and touches many aspects of Ross’s business. This position will be responsible for leading projects that result in new business processes that are frequently cross-functional in nature, with outcomes presented to executives within Allocation as well as outside (e.g. Planning, Merchandising, Strategy, etc.).
The right candidate will have the ability to represent Allocation cross functionally with Merchant and Planning Leadership as well as other Sr. Executives in the company.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Lead and support merchandising initiatives and programs as it relates to complex multi-dimensional business projects, develop work plans, communication materials and implementation timelines as needed.
• Lead the team through research, the creation of business requirements, business case development, reporting/analytics and evaluation approaches that result in leadership buy in to team proposals.
• Partner and influence collaboration with merchants and planning, as well as other business partners to develop allocation practices to best support Ross and dd’s businesses
• Identify how to communicate and implement initiatives and programs across the allocation department
• Represent Allocation interests with cross functional business partners, e.g. Planning for the implementation of new activities, evolution of existing activities
• Coordinate and track events and high level business strategies that span across the Allocation department, provide updates and insight to Allocation leadership
• Identify areas of opportunity in the department (people/process/tools) and offer associated solutions.
• Build, lead and develop a team of high performing associates with a focus on project management, problem solving, and process strengthening.
• Provide coaching and feedback to direct reports. Follow up on career development and coaching in a timely manner.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:
• College degree required with an analytical background
• 10-15 years previous work experience in an internal or consulting role in a large, complex company formulating both growth and operational initiatives
• Retail background is beneficial, it is not required
• Strategy or Operational consulting background is also beneficial
• 3-5 years of previous experience in leading and managing direct reports or a team
• Previous Project Management experience is preferred
• Must have very strong quantitative skills and previous experience in managing a complex analytical process.
• Experience drafting senior-level communication and presentations is highly desired.
• Strong fundamental business skills – must be Excel and PowerPoint proficient.
• Advanced financial and statistical modeling skills and database analysis.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ADA:
Job requires ability to work in an office environment, primarily on a computer.
Requires sitting, standing, walking, hearing, talking on the telephone, attending in-person meetings, typing, and working with paper/files, etc.
Consistent timeliness and regular attendance.
Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronically.
